This may have been posted before but it seems an Granddad from Brid is through to the final table of the Poker World Series. He usual plays a £10 tournament in Hull apparently but is now guaranteed at least $1m and is in with a chance of the $8m top prize! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-40659199 British professional poker player Paul Jackson, a WSOP veteran who was in Las Vegas for some of the earlier tournaments, said: "It's so rare and difficult for someone of his limited ability to do so well. "To get through such a large field... it's a freak occurrence that's unlikely ever to be repeated." He added: "He seems like a really nice bloke; a good winner and a good loser. It lets people know you don't have to act like a sulky teenager like some of the players do. "I think it's absolutely fantastic. It's great for poker. "I hope he goes on to win it."

That's some knock out competition! EDIT: 7,221 players paying $10K to enter that's $72,221,000 they've taken in entrance fees alone before you even think about TV money and sponsorship!
