Eastern Europeans are also white. Is it just because they're poorer in general compared to Western and Northern Europeans?

    So what you're saying spook

Is have a set rules that applies in every scenario

But as that would be chaos since you pointed out accurately that offensive terms are used every min on a variety of groups

Then the only outcome To your logic is to allow everything and anything to be said with no repercussions

Although it's wrong for hate speech of any kind especially by someone who holds a highe authority than just the average joe... It was four years ago.

Times change, people's opinions change, the world changes.

I'm sure plenty of the older posters on here when growing up regularly heard derogatory remarks about people of colour or within the LGBT community and may have said things themselves when younger or believed things they would hear for example that being gay is wrong. But a lot of those people don't necessarily hold those opinions now that times have changed and they shouldn't be held accountable for feeling that way many many years ago.

Freedom of speech is exactly that, the moment you place restrictions on speech is when it stops being free speech.

Freedom of speech and freedom from the consequences of what you say are not the same thing.

It's not acceptable to make hate comments, the mods do a good job for me. There was some completely over the top and offensive stuff regarding Welsh war veterans on here when the Euros was on and it was removed.

Out of all of them, the only one who is consistent and competent is PLT.

Or, just maybe, they now keep those same feelings to themselves.

That's your opinion. I doubt that everybody on here agrees with it, though PLT is certainly (imo) one of the least bad mods.

We have four mods on this board, but in reality, only two actually do the moderating.

People do and can change for sure. But saying "i am a changed man" is like the most common excuse. There's absolutely no way of knowing whether that's true or not. And taking responsibility for your past actions (or the past you) is something most of us have to deal with and rightly so. A quick tweet saying "i've changed" just seems really easy.

As I said, many criminals who get sentenced a few years after their crimes, may have changed, and it may affect the sentence but it doesn't completely negate it.

But what is the definition of free speech really?

Does free speech mean no consequences? Anyone should be able to say anything they want without a retaliation in the form of a fine, punch, sentence?

    I don't think that's free speech.

Yes I do not appreciate him saying some members of my extended family (and probably some of his teammates ) should burn and die.
At least he has made the apology, possibly written by his agent.

It would be interesting to know whether, when he signed for burnley, he was asked whether there were any matters in his past that could bring him or the club into disrepute. If he was asked, he either said:
No - suggesting he is either hid these comments (in which case you would expect him to delete them), or he did not even think there was an issue with the comments, suggesting he really is an idiot.
Or he said yes, and burnley have chosen to manage the situation.
Either way, it is telling that his unreserved apology came when he had been found out, not when he had turned over a new leaf and realised how offensive his comments actually were.
On the issue of free speech, people should understand why there are laws on free speech. It is not to allow people to make nasty comments about others, but to protect people who want to speak out against oppressive regimes, and to air views that may lead to their persecution. It is always funny that the real scum in society chose to quote free speech and human rights laws to justify their actions.

Not true, he used free speech to air his views, no one stopped him and there were no restrictions, the posts weren't blocked by twitter they were published for the world to see.

What has happened since is a moral reaction to his use free speech from the media and public, people disagree with what he said and now he's facing the consequences.

Free speech merely gives you the platform to air your views, it doesn't protect you from the reaction those views might provoke.
