Yep, one from the Daily Fail. Claims that we're considering re-signing him for less than the £13m paid. Sam needs his grafters and we need some creativity. Question for Toon fans; would you have/want him back?? Me....I think yes. I think he's made a mistake, an understandable one, and would likely put in twice the effort if he pulled on the black & white again. We need some PL quality and he/Ritchie would be a nice mix either flank.
He's a quality player and would be welcome back here anytime. By me at least. Can't see Palace letting an England international go.
No thank you - he jumped ship and like the rest got his just desserts. Would rather we attempted to sign Jason Puncheon (and of course Depay )
Best player in our team during the time he was here. Yes, he jumped ship to try and keep his England place. Epic fail. My view is that we shouldn't spite our faces by labelling him persona non grata. If he came back and apologies for his poor judgement call, he'd immediately become un-Pardewed and start playing really well again. We need to not have to bite our finger nails off for the second half of every game!
I would welcome any player who would improve our team, regardless of whether they have jumped ship in the past.
He would have been the best the player in the league if he had stayed. He is absolute quality and better than Ritchie so I wouldn't hesitate to sign him although I don't believe the rumour to be honest.
Overrated he looked good in a terrible side plus he left so what message does it send out? That you can leave and if things don't work out we'll come crawling back? No not for me we need to aim higher in our standards mate
**** me anyone claiming the loyalty **** is deluded. He's a footballer wanting the best for his career. He liked playing for us and was sorry we went down but it wasn't his fault. He has to maximise his career opportunities and no one can deny him that. If he comes back good. He said nothing but good things about us and he gave his all for us which is more than sole fannies that have wore the shirt. Rant over.
This. It's not like he went on strike to force a move. Gave 100% during his time here and made an error in leaving.
It's a no-brainer for me. If he wants to come back, bring him back. If we can work Colback into the deal somehow, so much the better.
Should have stayed with us there is no doubt about that. His profile has gone downhill in my opinion since he moved. I think he genuinely felt he had to be in the Premiere League to stay in the eye of the England manager, it's not a hypothesis l agreed with and l think that's been proven. I feel he would have done better in all aspects of his career if he had stayed put. That said he seemed to have a genuine affinity for the club, city and fans. I would be pleased to see him return, but don't think it's going to happen.
