Having concourse areas that you'd actually want to spend some time in and have a bevvy, something to eat etc, is exactly what clubs should be doing in order to provide both a quality environment for fans and maximise the revenue they can generate for the club, by ensuring more fans spend their matchday pound at the ground. Looks boss tbh.
Looks good I just hope the work is now continued and we start look at re-developing some of the other stands like we were before.
I'm told the Anfield road end should be done. I am told we keep saying its "marginal" business case for 4k extra seats. Also what i was told over time: The centenary stand would require at least 4/3 rows of houses to be purchased outright. I believe LFC once owned some but basically gave them away to be redeveloped to improve the area and they would have to be all taken again. The kop end would require the road to be moved. In short there's significant blockages on two sides but the anfield raod end which nobody likes is ripe for change but its up to the club and FSG to go do it. all that needs doing is enabling works for the water and sewers under the road. (move them) We could easily fill in a corner or two and do this to get up as high as possible unitl the council tell us no more for transport reasons. (60k was mentioned but i think we could push to 65k) A third tier on the centenary stand would seem highly unlikely at this point. The work that wa done in 1992 would seem to me to preclude really replicating this new main stand on that side. Thats what I'm told anyway.
oh and I just want to say that I feel that 16 years later we have finally arrived as a club in the 21st century after looking at this. I feel like we actually look like a big club (on this side of the ground)
It's big innit and it's modern All that's needed now is for the team's ambition on the pitch to start matching that of everybody involved in getting that built because currently a lot of this team doesn't deserve to be playing in front of such a cool stand
Wouldn't doing the Anfield Rd stand require moving Anfield Road altogether and buying what looks to be an industrial site? Could easily be done as its a straight road that could be moved backwards along Stanley Park. The Kop is practically impossible to expand due to the shape of the road behind it. Surprised the corner of the Main and Kop wasn't done at the same time as this work
Anfield Road expansion plans [phase 2] were submitted with the original plans - http://northgate.liverpool.gov.uk/D...erview.aspx?type=MVMPRD_DC_PLANAPP&key=898733
i think we'd done that. yes the road must be moves but that is in the application. I think we already have the detailed plans for this outlined for planning and have this approved for the usual 5 year period. The kop end would require a huge road change and sounds impractical to me. the only theoretical way to get more in there is a steep stand. I am really bemused also why corners have not even been attempted. The kop to main stand transition would seem to make perfect sense but there could be some kop roof issues that prevent it?
nice one. this is a pic from the application basically the anfield road closes and you find all of the traffic diverted round. the plans bascially show the existing lower tier remains and then this new upper teir and concourse are added. It really is quite big for the 4k extra seats and replicates some of the effect of the main stand this is the picture that captures the imagination on it the sheer scale of it dwarfs the kop end
The question about the corners being filled in was asked when they had an open session after the original plans were presented. The answer - the stanchions that support the Kop ..... please log in to view this image make it extremely difficult and would require extensive re-modelling of the Kop too at a great cost for little gain. These supports make the stands cantilever therefore no internal pillars and a similar one will be housed in each corner to support the new Main Stand.
Would go from impressive to very impressive if phase 2 gets done as well. Well done on posting the pics mito
