I'm not or ever have been a Liverpool fan but this guy was up there with the best of them as a player, coach and one club man. Look at the tributes at the foot of the article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39350805 RIP
Must admit I remember the name but not much about the man. A one club stalwart and it's obvious from those who worked with him a much respected and influential presence at Liverpool through 5 decades. It must be something about Liverpool but it seems to have thrown up characters like him over the years - Shankly probably being the epitome. I doubt there are many of today's crop of managers/coaches who will emulate those of that era. The colossal money involved in the game now rather than committment of owners etc plays a disproportionate part and it's great shame it's gone that way.
Part of the Liverpool boot room. Never in the limelight but always in the background. A scouse Alan Curtis if you will.
He was part of the backroom team that saw Liverpool have their best 10 years, well respected by managers and coaches alike. RIP Ronnie Moran.
