Apart from the fact that he was the last one off the pitch as he applauded the city fans, he also spent quite a few moments congratulating each of the city players as they left the pitch and having quite an affectionate embrace on nigel pearson as well. Something about his whole persona suggested that he would rather be somewhere else than derby at this point in time. Quite touching really to see his reaction!
Good to hear, a great player on the pitch and it sounds like a gentlemen off the pitch, good lad. Looks like we may have the 3 options of Gerrard Ayala and Hobbs to potentially buy next season.
Lets have all three! This would give us strength in depth across the back, but this all depends on us getting promotion (and Cardiff not). I can imagine us getting Ayala at the end of the season, maybe Hobbs if Sven starts splashing the cash. Just midfield to have a look at now and we'll be ready for next season.
I'm maybe getting greedy, but I think we've got more dealing to do upfront too. We have options up front which makes a nice change, but I think we're still missing something. Or could it be that once there's more bite in midfield, we get more ball, and better supply to the strikers?
Pearson and Ayala left the pitch with arms entwined! Looks like our Nigel really knows how to get the respect of the players!
As they left the field engrossed in conversation I wondered if the topic was: don't worry, we are doing all we can to get you at the KC permanently; or, thanks for running under the ball at the corner to let Gerrard in.
on the radio it said before the game it was similiar that Ayala went across and shock sum of the city players hands and gave a couple of hugs, think theres a good choice hell be a city player next season, somethings certyainly made a good impression on him;]
Well the way Derby are going (despite Ayala efforts) their performances may persuade Liverpool he has no future with them at the Premier level & could be available for cheaper price than had he stayed with us doing so well!
His contracts up at the end of the season so he'd be free. Unless liverpool are gonna give us money to take him, we cant ask for a better price.
It was stated in the media that he initially turned down Derby stating that he wanted to return to City on loan. His parent club, Liverpool, pay his wages - so pressure must have been put on him to go to Derby. We knew where he wanted to be - it's now been publicly demonstrated by him that his heart is with us. Hope he gets his heart's desire in the summer.
Does anyone really know why he did not come back to Hull, this may of been discussed and I have missed it. It sounds to me like he was man of the man for Derby. His body language at the ends seems to say he is sad not to be back at Hull.
Ayala is going to be a great Player. It was a toss up between him and 'If your name's Robbie Savage you're a See You Next Tuesday' who was their Man of the Match. Savage has great talent, what a pity he devotes so much effort to being a gobby twat.
