He wanted to stay... I presume it was his contract although I can't imagine Burnley are paying him anyway near the 70,000 grand he was getting with us.
Because he wasn't a believer in Sir Les's twitterless policy, not to mention that he'd refused to take part in Ramseys new midfield sweep policy, where every player continually passes the ball back to the defence until the opposition scores at least twice in a single game. The Fulham game was an exception but apart from that, implementation has been successful.
Barton took a massive pay cut to join Burnley, Dyche was interviewed just after he signed and said how impressed he was by Barton's ambition for the team. I've always though Barton was a top Championship player but not quite the same with the Premier League's exacting level. Burnley's gain and they'll be right in the mix come May...
We miss him very bad. Pity they couldn't have sorted something out like you stay off Twitter and we'll get one of the U18 lads to wipe your boots for you.
Barton had the talent to play midfield maybe championship level is probably where he is best suited - however his temper was the one thing that always let him down. And at least when he played for you, you were guaranteed at least one ban whether sending off or collection of cards, and he would play for the shirt whereas we have had more than enough players here who were happy to take the pay cheque for doing very little.
I watched that rotherham-burnley match and mr J. Barton was everywhere. He was the motor on the burnleys midfield and keeped them going all night long. He really is a very good championship player and decent in the prem too but no worries cos we have Henry who is...well nothing of a kind.
The fact that there are more than a few QPR fans wishing he was still here is a massive credit to JB and how he managed to turn himself around after that game! I miss his energy and leadership too though those qualities come with about 2 red cards every season.
Despite all of his protestations of a zen personality, he was a time bomb waiting to go off every match. More of a liability than an asset.
He kept the Pin screwed well in since City! All the more credit to him if he is "a time bomb waiting to go off every match".
He was pretty calm timebom last season even if he did get lot of yellow cards he was sent off just once and that was not a direct one ...
He was fine last season He defo gets picked by refs He would still be our best player I accept he can't pass that well or shoot or take a corner at all
