Whether this Beckham story is true or not it is not the issue for me....I just don't agree with any famous individual being Knighted, It goes to the wrong people imo. I don't mind if they have done something that has been exceptional and deserve a reward but that should only be maybe an MBE.....I totally agree with Kiff about abolishing the House of lords as i have been saying the same for 30 years or more as it is the most expensive seclusive club in the world let alone here and if we were to abolish it we would be the richest country in the world and could wipe out all the countries debt over night. Beckham will get his knighthood being good mates with William and Harry but i wont recognize it like i don't recognize any other knighted/Dame famous person...

It's hard to think of anyone selfless and deserving enough to receive the top honour in modern times ?

But there are good people out there, swan.

I mentioned earlier my mate's wife. She spends huge amounts of time every week raising awareness and funds for the Autistic Society (they have a severely autistic son). She doesn't do it for money, glory or fame. She does it for the kids and their parents. Most people would agree that ordinary people like this deserve some sort of recognition.

But doing well in a sport that you have chosen to do or being able to sing and dance pales by comparison. Seems to me they are nothing more than awards for being famous.

Yes plenty of ordinary mostly unheralded good people out there that have spent decades helping many folk in Thier communities, but these knighthoods and other gongs seem to go only to mostly undeserving characters that have been let into a private club !

I tell you what makes me cringe is these TV awards like the Oscars and all the British ones......You don't see or hear about awards for best dustman or school crossing men/women and thousands of other unsung hero's who do get awards that have walked the red carpet do you and some of those jobs that they do whatever the weather is are voluntary or expenses only.....When i see these Actors who are good by the way take up 3 hours of TV time patting each other on the back i cant stand it and switch off.....

There should be rules that nullify " Sirs'" being passed out for such behavior ,but even if they did I'm sure they would bend them for Beckham .... sorry :)

Not sure how he qualifies for a gong anyway, he lives abroad, mostly works abroad, majority of his business interests are registered abroad, I'm more English than his kids and I'm a taffy apple? They've lived all of their lives in the States, he even named one Brooklyn ffs. And all this alleged cherridy work he's supposed to do, where the does he do that? abroad I guess coz he's never here so how the fekk does he even qualify.

Who gives a flying fcuk what this ex footballer says or does anyway? we're playing Leicester this weekend and that's all that matters <ok>

Agree with most about the dumb honours system.

As for the E-mail leaks, apparantly some of the emails have been doctored to add addition swear words etc. regardless, i'm a big fan of Beckham, he holds himself well and he does a lot of charity irrespective of what people think. Some will say its for his image yada da da da but ultimately, he's helping humanity rather than just having a jolly himself.
