Hopefully we can kick on from our stuffing of Fulham and bury the ghost that you guys have been to us over the years! I said hope, but your hoodoo is strong, so I recon a score draw. 2-2.
You have brilliant fans, terrific history and some good players but please don't under estimate our little band of carrot crunchers, we have changed, enjoy your experience at our new stadium and I still think Norman Hunter was the best, most brilliant defender we ever signed..
Interesting stat. So many accidental goals so quickly, eh? Will @willsmith700 12h12 hours ago "Wood has reached 20 goals quicker than Beckford, Becchio and McCormack, who all scored over 50 goals for the club in recent years"
You will have to keep Tammy quiet - 10 goals and counting already. We are privileged to have him - Chelsea could have done with him this weekend.
Hey bcfc, call Portman Give big Mick a call at Portman Rd. and ask how his robust striker Bret Pitman is doing on the treatment table, Jansson went through him like a bulldozer and even Norman Hunter cringed in the stand, looking forward to this one.
Tammy Abraham does worry me, he's clearly too good for this league (kinda what I hate about the loan market but not gonna get into that)
I thought Ipswich were going to be a tough test, but it didn't turn out that way and even mighty Mick was disappointed with their performance. If every team we play have disappointing performances then we'll be marching to top of league and on game 35 before we're even tested properly, which is obviously in our favour. In past I've always seen Bristol City as one of those up and down teams, then come out and beat a top team convincingly. They're 1 point and 2 positions above us, so haven't had a bad start so far. They've also shown they can score multiple goals, beat Fulham twice, 4-2 and 2-1, lost to Wednesday 3-2, and drew with Rotherham 2-2. I'm going for the draw, cos it's away, but wouldn't be surprised if they popped up and beat us.
After Ipswich's performance I can see why Josh.... Here's an interesting scenario, both Cardiff and Ipswich have been our somewhat bogey team in past, and we broke that trend on both occasions, now, bcfcredandwhite on the Bristol v Leeds thread reckons we've been their bogey team in past, here's hoping the trend ain't reversed, but I agree with you, unless they play crap it's going to be a tougher test.....
Hang on, let me check cos you're from Bristol.....I think........I stand corrected, my mistake, your fault...
'robust striker Bret Pitman' The last thing I would call Pitman is robust. Abraham hasn't grown in to his frame yet and therefore won't be the strongest should Jansen do him. Mind you, if Wilbraham plays (Abraham as a dead leg) it will become 'interesting'. I can't believe anyone 'goes through' players as in days gone by, the game has moved on thank goodness. Someone mentioned Hunter, he wasn't just hard he was a proper footballer, great in the air and amazing leader. If Jansen does try it, we'll see how long he stays on.
The idea that teams can get a player of this sort of caliber for free for a season (like Bamford at boro) that they would never be able to get otherwise. I know it seems hypocritical when we have Jansson and Sacko in the team but for some reason it feels different to me coz at least we have the option to buy. It's more a try before you buy scenario rather than "we are a **** team but let's bring in a 15m player for nothing who could propel us coz his parent club only want him in a couple years" That's nothing against teams like Bristol City who take advantage of it but the whole system seems warped to me. It also encourages clubs with stupid amount of money (like Chelsea and Man City) to buy up all the best young talent in the world and just loan em out every season. Chelsea have a stupid amount of players on their books that they loan out every season.
