[email protected] @youngsunecho 08:24Wednesday 01 April 2015 WES BROWN is set to miss Sunday’s Wear-Tyne derby, with the veteran Sunderland defender facing several weeks on the sidelines. Brown lasted just 12 minutes of Dick Advocaat’s opening game in charge against West Ham 10 days ago after he limped off with a knee injury following an awkward landing from a header. The Echo understands that Brown has not trained since the defeat at Upton Park and is expected to be on the treatment table for several weeks - ruling him out of this weekend’s crunch visit of Newcastle United.
well thank the ****ing lord, wesleys fhantom injurys kick in again. have we got any kids to cover with a bit pace.
Brown's career was always going to end with an injury, I doubt he'll be short of offers for a coach role either, listening to Fergie he has him down as a highly gifted defender. I hope he ends up in management and shows the likes of Sol Campbell and John Barnes that it's nothing to do with their skin colour and everything to do with them being useless bastards.
I can see why he was well respected by you blokes, a few brain snaps and some errors creeped in over the last season but I'll never question his commitment. Hope he returns to finish off with a few wins and our PL safety.
Still better than his mate tho' and a bit of a blow tbh, but lets see how we cope, change has to be made and this could be the start, for better or worse, as you say we are not asking for world-beating performances, just Premiership standard will do.
He's 35 or something innit, he's bound to make the odd mistake here and there. It's players like Brown who'll come up with the goods when you need them most though, calm heads and so on. He's surprised a lot of United fans by stringing together such a long period of games without injury. His injuries were the difference between him being a £1m defender and a £30m defender.
Yeah he's on his last legs, that's why I don't mind the odd mistake here and their we're all human.. Especially don't mind it if it's Wes cause he's one of a few I believe who put the red and white stripes on and have a bloody dig.. Most of the team couldn't give a rats arse about the jersey and what it means to the fans.. Just my opinion though.. Whether or not he could've been a 30 mil defender or 1 mil is irrelevant, He always tried his best to me, he can walk away holding his head high.
Yeah he's got plenty of qualities pal, I wonder if he'll fancy another season after this one. It's always good to have an experienced head around when you're bedding in a new CB partnership, to step in if they have a bad game. Demichellis for example, at City, I'm sure Nastasic was the 'future' there, yet a bad game or two let Demichellis in for the remainder of the season and they won the title.
He's been an excellent signing for us, hope this isn't the end. I'm very worried about Vergini playing Sun. Think I'd prefer Coates!!
I'm not sure if he's contracted for next season? If he isn't and wants to continue then the new gaffer coming in will have a say on that, I'd like him to continue but feel this will be has last season. Yeah and on the back on that didn't Demichellis make the WC squad for Argentina? Just goes to show even if your a little older and get your chance you can still grab it with both hands and reap the rewards..
Yep, his Natural Position and possible long term solution for a ball playing centre back. We don't need 3 DMs
I don't think Wes Brown would to black enough to count! You'd see one photo of him and he'll look black, then another he would look white! I would have to go somewhere in between and say orange!
