According to TWS board, ex Southampton chairman Nicola Cortese is set to launch a bid to buy Massimo Cellino's controlling shares in Leeds Utd. Some Southampton fans offer their view based on his time there. "Guys, if Cortese does front a bid, it'll have good money behind it as he's sharp as a knife and pretty well connected. He'll want to run the whole show though, and that means top to bottom regardless of tradition, existing structure or fans wishes. He's a complete control freak, ruthless just a little bit mental, and it will be his way or the highway...that said, he was fantastic for us at Saints, and even though he was a nutter, we loved him because he was our nutter despite his failings. He's probably a great bet for you guys though, despite all the negative stuff you might read as he is completely driven and absolutely demands success. If he wants to bring Lufc back to the premier league, there might be some kicking and screaming, a few bodies buried and some disgruntled traditionalists but he'll get you there." "If you get Cortese you'll get a bid that's backed up with the right amount of cash. You'll get a monomaniacal chairman with so much focus on success that you won't believe it. Nothing matters except efficiency. He'll drop your history like a stone; he'll see it as just a distraction (Saints are only just getting photos back on the walls after his reign). You'll see ex players thrown aside and you'll see a turnover of (general club) management and staff like you won't believe. I suspect you'll get a new stadium. The money he brings will be whiter than white - no-one shady involved. So why would he guide the money men to buy you? You still have a large, committed fanbase that'll fill a new stadium. No divided loyalties in Leeds, one club only. That's worth a great deal for the future. If he buys you you'll be given a clear, stated five-year plan and woe betide anyone or anything that gets in the way. The five year plan will look like pure fantasy and you'll have a good laugh at it right up until the moment that it comes off. He'll divide your fanbase totally into people who love him and people who hate his distaste for heritage. However, you'll all be united in joy at what's happening on the pitch. The best way I can describe how he was for Saints is: He was a twat but he was our twat." What price 'success'?
The gift's still giving. They've got Terry George (organiser of Mr Gay UK) to do the shoot for next years Leeds United official calendar... please log in to view this image
From this 1975 photo of LUFC's team outside Leeds City Hall (I think), it looks like their sartorial splendor is in anticipation of a Mafiosi invasion ! Paul Madeley seems to have visited a Palermo barber too. http://www.ozwhitelufc.net.au/28-05-1975 Bayern Munich v LUFC_files/image074.jpg
Still giving... Leeds United fans fury after club add mandatory ‘pie-tax’ to South Stand tickets... http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....o-south-stand-tickets-1-7601249#ixzz3t9mKvwo7
That's laughable, but if City did it people would say you're getting a free pie, stop complaining, anti club etc.
Genius. Imagine the queues if literally EVERYONE in the stand went for food and drink at half time, they just wouldnt be able to serve everyone. It really is a terrific scheme.
