Not really sure what to think of this to be honest.... Sunderland have offered Charles N'Zogbia a deal at the Stadium of Light after impressing on trial, sources close to the club have told ESPN FC. N'Zogbia, 30, is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Aston Villa earlier this summer and he was invited to train with Sunderland by former boss Sam Allardyce. The Frenchman has caught the eye in training and he boosted his chances of winning a move to Sunderland with the winning goal in the preseason friendly victory over Rotherham last weekend in front of new Sunderland manager David Moyes. Moyes has included N'Zogbia in his squad for this week's training camp in France and sources have told ESPN FC that Allardyce gave Moyes a positive report on N'Zogbia. Sunderland have held a long-term interest in the former Newcastle and Wigan winger, with the club just failing to sign the player on transfer deadline day in January. N'Zogbia saw his career at Villa stall last season after finding himself out of favour at Villa Park with the player making just two appearances last season. Moyes is now ready to offer N'Zogbia the chance to get his career back on track and he could become Moyes' first signing since taking over from Allardyce at the Stadium of Light.
Hard to believe we'd be offering him a deal at this point. Seems like something we'd wait out till our window has taken shape. I'd wait it out anyway. Unles he's been offered pay as you play.
I'm not against this at all. I've always liked the lad, he's fell off but he's clearly been sharp as **** to get an offer this early. Could be a masterstroke.
Been the stand out player from the friendlies as a collective so far. Mind you, think he's the only one to feature heavily in every game.
It's a left sided player with undoubted ability mate, for nowt at a still reasonable age. I'm sure it will be a year with an option so risk is minimal. No qualms.
I just hope he doesnt get his contract and then lose all interest and be happy to sit on the bench like hes done in the past. I dont have an issue with his ability, the bloke just seems a cock!
I just worry we commit a wage only for the right player for long term invest to become available. Unless he's generating interest I would just extend his trial a bit longer just to see if anything in the market develops. No qualms if nobody better comes up.
Nowt against the signing but has he not performed to get a contract and then reverts to being a lazy b*stard. Were relying on our manager to get him to be consistently good.
He shouldn't be getting any more than 25k pw, nobody else is going to offer him premiership football. I'm pleased about this judging by his performances in the friendlies, he's been very impressive. I do share the concerns that he could just by upping his performances for a new contract, but I've got a good feeling about him.
I didn't see any of his recent games, thanks to **** French TV!!! Its obviously Moyes must be making the decision, so I'll go with his judgement call on that signing.
I saw him in the flesh against Pools and he barely done a thing so he must have played a blinder against Rotherham and in training?
If offered a 1 or 2 year contact, I cant see the harm in it. Better option to have in the squad than Bridcutt
The last insomnia thread had about 2000 replies, it was of epic proportions. Now he is off the boil, relegated and uninspiring. Cant say that this is good signing. Merely a squad filler, after getting rid of other squad fillers.
