Perhaps we should put it out there that Austin is a crock and his head, shoulder, knees and for the hell of it toes are all knackered. Put off any possible suitors, we keep him and he bags 30 goals for us in the Championship. However, if anyone meets the £15m price tag, get the deal done ASAP.
Realistically he will be sold but I can see the club trying their best to keep hold of him. If we could and also sort out our defence then maybe we can have another go at promotion. If we somehow managed to get promoted again this would be worth more to the club than letting him go once his contract has finished. Pie in the sky thinking this but who knows?
He's been given the number 9 squad number so I guess the plan is to either keep him or get in a suitable replacent to wear that number, can't see them leaving the number 9 shirt unused for the season!
I hope he stays because next year he could be the real deal . Every club in Europe know the market and every player is known Austin needs more time yet IMO and a good run with us could line him up for January
We're looking for a striker and free to make a move once Wickham has gone. Austin may have just gained an option as quickly as he's lost one.
I am beginning to think that Charlie will play for us against Charlton. Originally I thought it extremely unlikely. Now I think it may be probable. This does not mean that he will not be sold, but that may occur (again) towards the end of the transfer window. The impact of this for both his and the team motivation? I have no idea.
The tabloid and Internet hacks seem to have given up on deciding Charlie's fate. It was multiple stories a day and now next to nothing in the last few days. Newcastle seem to be the only option now but do they want to cough up the dough?
Valencia got carried off with a Knee problem last night. West Ham might need a new striker if it's serious
Anyone else think if Austin goes we should immediately make a move for Dwight Gayle? If Palace sign Wickham as expected, he'll be 4th or 5th choice at Palace. Rapid, can finish, and only 25. I think he fits the mould.
I think we'd have a better chance of signing Glenn Murray, proven in the Championship and surplus now Wickham has been signed. Gayle is more of an impact player and doesn't get played that much as he's not versatile, only plays one way...
Looks like Spurs are about to put a bid in. Sincerely hope we can extract maximum pounds from Levy. It would be nice to get one back at him. I'd be putting a 10% Levy surcharge on top! http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/786302902?-294:802:0
This could have legs....especially if we either get Hall and the FB (Davies is it) thrown in as loan or small buy
Would suit him as a location but not sure how much game time he would get there, not sure if Spurs play with just one up front. But lets just get it sorted. The FB Davies, wasn't he the lad who played for MK Dons against us in the cup when we scrapped through in a replay? Looked a real prospect and thought he would go on to better things......
That was Adam Smith. Now at Bournemouth. Ben Davies they signed from Swansea for quite big money but bizarrely play Danny Rose ahead of him. Even more bizarrely, Rose is linked with Chelsea. Davies is far too good for the Championship and will be on good money at Spurs.
Yep. They're getting serious about him. They've been watching proceedings from the sidelines and have realised we're not dropping the price and so want to come and get him before anyone else does.
I'm really surprised nobody has snapped him up already. So many of the big name foreign players come here and don't deliver - £15m really is not much in today's market for a proven goal scorer
