Alan Pardew desperate 'to get to one of the big clubs' as ambitious Crystal Palace boss also eyes up England job http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ous-Crystal-Palace-boss-eyes-England-job.html Alan Pardew has had great success since joining Crystal Palace in January But the former Newcastle boss is looking at bigger clubs Pardew says he is envious of managers like Brendan Rodgers An the Palace boss also suggested that he would want the England job Alan Pardew might be riding high with Crystal Palace at the moment, but the former Newcastle boss has his sights set on bigger things. Pardew led the south London club to a top-half finish last season, and boasts a remarkable win ratio since taking over in January. But despite his side sitting seventh in the Premier League, above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, the 54-year-old says he wants the chance to manage at a 'big club', in comments that will worry Palace fans. 'It is an ambition of mine,' Pardew told BT Sport ahead of his side's game against West Brom on Saturday. 'I won't ever let it rest until I'm done, to get to one of the big clubs, because I want a bigger percentage chance of winning. 'Why wouldn't I? I envy those managers that are there, I really do. 'I really envy Brendan (Rodgers) and Jose (Mourinho) and everybody else. But that doesn't stop my determination to try and turn them over.' Pardew was also bold on his ambitions for the England job, if it were ever offered to him, saying that he would like the job for one tournament only. 'I think the England job is a job that's unique in that it brings a certain pressure. I've experiecned some of that at pressure the clubs I'd been at. 'If Roy (Hodgson), and after Roy somebody else, if it ever turned up at my doorstep I would say to the FA, I'll have one tournament. 'Let me have one tournament - win, lose or bust. And my money ends when that ends. I'd be happy with that.' How can Pardew say that when Palace have done so much to help him with wages? He's better at Palace than Liverpool. He's done well at Palace but he should get his head down and perform for a couple of years at least. He may be thinking ahead but it's disrespectful to talk about it. The England job is different - most Englishmen would want to do that job.
Is that the same article wrote about Phil Brown ( with the name changed to Pardew ) when we were 3rd or 4th after 11 games.
Yes, he's awful. Let's be thankful we didn't get him and have to endure watching football like Palace's?
Pardew's Charlton were the worst example of anti-football I've ever watched live and despite his current success, the bloke's an utter ****.
He needs to dream of getting Palace into Europe first (or winning more than 1 game in the second half of the season).
Because he's obviously already angling for a move from Palace. The fans love him there as he's one of their own yet he's clearly using them as a stepping stone. He's been at a big club before, it never worked, and that's on his CV.
He was driven out because of club politics by the fans. Every manager wants to manage a bigger club. The only thing to criticise him for is not realising he should keep quiet about it like others do.
A lot of managers are utter ****s. Rather a successful **** instead of an unsuccessful,****. Of which we have had more than our fair share in the past.
I think Pardew is a good manager but it's amazing how many managers leave because they can't get funding for their plans but the next manager does get the funding. It's not always a question of trust but more a change of mind. It's similar with Directors of Football/Transfer Committees.
He'll always remain a **** in my eyes, whether successful or not he'd never be a **** that I'd want at City.
Newcastle fans wanting Pardew out are now looking very foolish. However Palace and Pardew is a perfect fit. As for England I would prefer the Wally back than Pardew. Long term it has to be Eddie Howe. imo.
I remember the 2-0 defeat to Charlton at the KC when he was in charge. Ash and one of theirs got sent off. Ash shouldn't have been. Then at 2-0 up they were the dirtiest, most time-wasting, cheating mother-****ers I've even seen on a football pitch. Going down and feigning injury at every opportunity. ****ing disgrace. Afterwards, Pardew had the ****ishness to say what a digraceful side Hull City were. That's when I though of him as an utter ****. And still do. Hated Charlton for a few years after that too. But anyway, that was the season City went up and Charlton stayed down. Ha, **** you Pardew. ****
