Yeah, I know it's called the community shield but : A) I am an old git and hate new fangled ****e and B) none of you lazy mofos are willing to write a match thread so I will call it what the hell I want. As this is next year we might as well just give the title to the mousers and save ourselves the heart ache! Chelsea have started to adjust to being less c u n t y with John Thomas departing for Aston Villa (insert own wife shagger jokes here) and are feeling a little lost so are expected to make a late bid for Suarez. They are confident that a bid of £40,000,001 will succeed Arsenal are in fantastic form after a pre season which saw them win the Emirates Cup. True ... they got less points than Saville, true... saville won all their matches and true that Arsenal lost to Saville but scoring more goals and getting less points is all that matters and that (my mutant north london tarts) is why we are the TRUE premier league champions ... we got less points than chelsea, lost to chelsea but scored more goals so **** you we are the champions! As well as the great pre season Wenger has had a brilliant transfer window where he has got the perfect situation with Oxo-Chamberlain, Ozil and Sanchez who are going to play out of their skins in the hope that Arsenal offer them a new contract! Conte has complained that his team are tired so he is obviously scared that the high flying gooners are going to humiliate Chelsea at wembley so he is getting his excuses in early. All neutrals are hoping there is a huge fight which results in Wenger ripping off Contes rug and Kante slapping that gormless smile off Walcotts smug face. Whatever happens, one thing is certain...John Terry will arrive and join in the celebrations.
Only if I am welcome ... and by welcome I mean I get a shed load of likes! Yours sincerely North London Like Hoe
still think you should do guest cameo appearances , think John Cleese "acting" , on all PL boards with your pithy but highly accurate* matchday threads. * not only is this year our year but obviously next year will be as well .
I cant decide if winning the Shield has any bearing on anything. Everytime we seem to win it the proceedng Season is mediocre. Still looking forward to a new Season.
Congratulations on winning the Community shield guys! We always throw the Community shield, I think we are allergic to it. So well done
I'm more happy with beating Chelsea (even in a glorified friendly) than winning the Community Shield, to be honest. It would be nice to think that this can be a great platform to build on for the rest of the season, but we've thought that the last two times we won it and we all know how underwhelming those seasons were...Hopefully, we can actually make some major improvements over the coming season. Xhaka and Kolasinac played well, as did Holding, Monreal and Cech. Iwobi looked dangerous and Welbeck was lively for the first half. Everyone else was pretty average. I think, in terms of overall performance, we edged it in the first half. However, they came alive in the second and looked a lot more aggressive with their pressing. We managed to deal with the pressure pretty well, though. One thing we do need to work on is our crossing and set-piece delivery. Xhaka's delivery for Kolasinac's equaliser was inch-perfect, but most of his corners had way too much swing/pace on them. Needs to work on that. Onwards we go!
Didn't see the game, only switched on just as that free kick was floated in for Kolasinac to nod home. (I'm taking credit for that ) But you're right, beating a strong Chelsea team in any game is a good result and bodes well for the shape of our team going into the new season.
Thought Xhaka had an excellent game today. Iwobi is playing really well at the moment. Kolasinac looks a great signing. Was actually shocked at the lineup (no Ozil, Sanchez, Koscielny) but luckily the team put in a good shift.
Was looking at the squads on the programme today and Arsenal had well over 40 players listed. Chelsea had something like 26.
I went yesterday, impressed by Xhaka. Kolasinac did well and looks beastly, he reminds me of Luzhny. La Cassette slotted straight in
