Terry had a nice idea that, as Christmas is approaching, we might do something good, as a board, for somebody, or a family, or a project. Accordingly, we set up a crowdfunding page at https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/SAFC to raise a few bob for a good cause. It's not a big deal, just a chance to do something nice at what is a difficult time of year for some.

There's no pressure and we don't want to make a big deal out of it. You don't want to put in then don't. You do, go to the link shown above. End of.

    (Paraphrased at Terry's request...)

    I'll match that £20 Terry.

I've had the most traumatic and horrifying day of my life and I've got enormous turmoil going on in different aspects of my life, I won't be coming on here at all for a while now.

I'll message my number and when you need the money just drop me a text mate.

    Take care

    Nick

Nah you're alright. I'm moving over Christmas, not a good time for free cash. Should be sound after Christmas so if we're going to get a tramp flowers and chocolate for valentines day then I'll be in. <laugh>

I've got my thinking cap on, and I'm struggling (for a cause) :emoticon-0114-dull:

Suggestions that I can think of at the moment are . . . .
    1) 'Hospitallity and Hope' which is a soup kithen and food bank based in South Shields
    2) The relatively small amount could be used to buy christmas presents for disabled children . . . . at Keelman's Way School in Hebburn, where my boy used to go (I've done a charity bike ride for them for the last 11 years and they really appreciate it)
    3) A battered wives refuge, because, generally, there'll be mams with children who have been, or will be between now and Santa making an appearance, forced to leave 'home' . . . . to provide some sort of presents that would help. I don't know where any are, but it wouldn't be difficult to find out.

Tell me what you think of these ideas :emoticon-0105-wink:

    All good ideas Gordon.

Lets see how much we can pull together and maybe we can put it to a few different causes. Maybe have a vote once we're ready to donate? ( as long as we can agree in a civilised manner of course :emoticon-0146-punch<laugh>)

Or should we agree beforehand? @Typical_Juan your idea, what would you suggest?

Gordon, we could maybe add spelling lessons for you as a suitable noble cause as well <whistle>

Awesome response lads, obviously it was my idea but I reckon it'll be fitting to do something in Sunderland for a local person/cause.

Amazing people on this board, even if we can make a difference to just one person it'll be amazing.

Like I say I don't really know how to identify a recipient but ideas like GA has come up with is a start, as long as the money doesn't end up in corporate hands I'll be happy <ok>

<ok> I like your idea of just a single person / ex-soldier though. Knowing it makes a difference to just 1 guy / lass.
