Part of the soundtrack to my youth in the Locarno and Rink. Good times. She didn't age so well but she was lovely in the 60's.
I'd love to know what you said at first RIP Cilla, most known to me as rhyming slang for Hashish and that Sid the Sexist episode but she did help complete a lot of lives so fair play.
Saw her at the Odeon (formerly Regal cinema) in Holmeside, Sunderland along with Gene Pitney and a lot of Liverpool bands, e.g. Billy J. Kramer, Gerry and the Pacemakers., Undertakers, around 1963 or '64. Cilla specialized in nicking American hits from Dionne Warwick and recording them over here - Walk on by, Anyone who had a heart, etc. She wasn't in the same league as Warwick of course, but she'd get in quick and record them before the American version came out over here. Fair does to the lass, she did well out of it. R.I.P. Cilla.
