No, the people told not to bother queuing obviously didn't bother queuing, but those already in the queue didn't end getting them either.
Fair enough if that's the case, but this reads to me like people are queuing behind him: We stood in line for about 30 minutes, and they said people just behind us were unlikely to get signatures
NO, we queued for 30 minutes and some guy came and to the people behind us told them that they couldn't guarantee they would get their autograph's. The people behind us, which was several hundred I would say, mostly went. We waited another 15 minutes and were then told that now we wouldn't get autographs, so we went.
I'm not defending the club here, I just don't see what the issue is. They told people they wouldn't get autographs, so most left, they then told you that you wouldn't get them so you left. I bet this happens at the vast majority of autograph sessions, they're professional sports people preparing for a big game thus plans are fluid and move. It's not a big deal.
Most clubs wouldn't close an autograph session fifteen minutes early, after loads of people had queued up expecting autographs.
So to have people queuing for 45 minutes, most with kids who were looking forward to meeting and getting an autograph with the players, and then disappointing them is OK in your book? The whole thing was ill thought out and purely bad management. Seeing how many were there, they should have split the players into 4 groups, arranged 4 queues, so at least everyone got to see 5 players and get their signatures. This was not the first time they have done this, so they should have known what to expect.
It's not their fault people queued for 45 mins. They ended the session slightly early and most of those queuing 45 mins wouldn't have got autographs if they hadn't ended it early. What are they supposed to do - keep signing all day? There's plenty to beat the club with at the minute, this isn't one in my eyes.
Bad organisation and management, nothing more nothing less. To say "keep signing all day" is nonsense, with the right organisation everyone would have gone away happy within a reasonable time.
What do you mean fluid? Has the match been brought forward? I don't see what variables are in play in here.
I don't think there's any reason it'd be impractical or difficult for them to agree a time and stick to it for this event. They've done it before, and not even had to resort to splitting the players up into groups as suggested on here.
The problem and cause is having the open day in the week of the first game of the season when focus is paramount. It should've been held a week earlier.
I heard some of those queuing were also professional.......autograph hunters and were wanting several items autographed, which led to the hold up.
