From Getreading.co.uk, looks like Steve Clarke is after putting together an ex-Hull City 11 Quinn becomes Reading’s second signing is as many days, following on from the arrival of striker Orlando Sa on Monday. Royals will now step up their pursuit of Birmingham City striker Clayton Donaldson, while goalkeeper Boaz Myhill and defender Paul McShane are also targets.
Stephen Quinn: "“Everything about (Reading) attracted me; the ambition to get back into the PL & the manager... He made me feel very wanted" Bit of a swipe at Bruce?
Midfielder targeting a return to the top flight New signing Stephen Quinn says that the club’s burning to desire to return to the Premier League was a huge factor in his decision to join the Royals. The Republic of Ireland international, who put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Reading, with the option of a fourth year, joins on a free transfer from Hull City. And, as well as targeting a return to the top flight, he revealed that opportunity to work under manager Steve Clarke was also a big attraction. “I’m really looking forward to a new chapter in my career with Reading,” he said. “I’m really excited to be down at such a big club. “Everything about the club attracted me; the ambition to get back into the Premier League and the manager, who came and met me in the close season and spoke very well. “He made me feel very wanted. He likes my style of play and how he wants to play the game is mirrored by that. He didn’t have to say too much to more after that because my heart was set on it after then. “Obviously, the manager has worked with some of the best players in the business and his track record is excellent. His philosophy on how he wants to play the game is something that I’m looking forward to working with.” He continued: “The Premier League is the promise land. It’s where every players wants to ply their trade. I’m included in that. This is such a massive club and it isn’t long since it’s been up there. We want to be pushing to get back there, starting next season.” http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/art...ootball-club-2513333.aspx#A53MRul2Ms2AJEc6.99
would love to know what's going on behind the scenes at city, get the impression all is not well, hope I'm wrong.
Callum Jahraldo-Martin has signed up for another 12 months. We're going to be formidable this season.
Some of the continuity was upset last season and the result was relegation. If Bruce had gone and we had got an impressive new manager it may have helped keep some players. As it is Bruce will keep Huddlestone and Elmo here but I'm not sure that will be enough. Wouldn't surprise me if Ince left, if he does then keeping Bruce looks even worse.
My interpretation of events is that SB was simply planning on strengthening his 25man PL squad by natural wastage. By that I mean letting the contracts of Quinn, Rosenior, McShane etc run down and then replace them with better quality players. That's why Quinn and Rosenior both fired broadsides at the manager - it's a natural reaction by someone not offered a contract extension to say the manager didn't want me. But it was just part of the transitional process. His plans have back-fired with relegation and now we're letting go the very players that we would need to give us a chance of promotion, to be replaced by - well we don't know who yet ? If we're top of the table at Christmas it'll all be forgotten about.
How about checking the BBC link I also posted? To suggest we're having a 'shocking' window when so many other teams in the league have done as much as us is pretty ridiculous.
http://www.squawka.com/news/milan-announce-sulley-muntari-contract-termination/408539 Sulley Muntari - No idea if he's any good
Yes that was reported. Maybe my summation of events is completely wrong and SB simply said "**** off you ginger Irish pikey"
I'm pretty sure the linked article to the HDM is from last season as it talks about our relegation odds; no way would Muntari want to play in the Championship and even if he was remotely interested, his wages would be far too high.
I can't believe he's actually gone, I thought it was just a joke. I was laughing. Seems he'd decided he didn't want to play for Hull Tigers anymore long ago. Another spirited, talented, fans favourite goes. Good luck ginge.
According to The Mirror, N'Doye is in 'advanced talks' with Swansea, apparently we value him at £3.5m, seems pretty reasonable. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...sea-poised-complete-5million-signing-5974869?
No chance...wages Plus Brucey is waiting until this bastard thread hits 100 pages before he even thinks about signing anyone! So Sulley will be long gone by then
But you've lost 3 key players already. I've seen nothing but discontent on these forums and not even a rumour of anyone joining you. I had you as favourites to come straight back up when you first went down but now I'm not so sure.
You say all this as if the window closes next week. It doesn't close for another 2 months for ****s' sake.
I don't have a crystal ball though matey. I'm only going on what i've seen so far. I expected to see you keep all of the players you had in your last Championship season and you've not even been linked with anyone. Just seems odd.
