The only people that are discontent are the ones who are pissing their pants over a lack of transfer activity. It's June, most players, managers and agents have been on holiday and nobody really gives much of a **** until tomorrow. Our team aren't even back in pre season yet, so what difference would it make if we signed 6 players tomorrow or had already signed 4 in the last month? Is the world going to run out of players for us to sign? We shouldn't rush this, we did that last season and look where it got us. We need to go for quality over quantity as the majority of our side is more than good enough for this league anyway. Our back four as it stands is Robertson, Chester, Dawson, Elmohamady. Yeah we've lost two defenders but there won't be many defences in our league better than that. Both McShane and Rosenior are replaceable, don't mistake cult status for squad importance; both were fan favourites but they're not exactly world beaters and it was their promotion experience that we could've done with, but we can just sign somebody else, it's not the end of the world. Same goes for Quinn. In fact by waiting for other clubs to move it allows us to see who becomes available as a consequence, which isn't such a bad thing at all.
We've been linked with plenty, they're just mainly bollocks(like Muntari today), Andre Gray and Craig Gardner are the only ones that seem realistic and probable. Hardly anyone has signed anyone yet, we'd only signed two players by this time last season and we were sloshing about in Premier League money then. As with most clubs once relegated, we've got some tidying up to do before we go shopping, we expect all three strikers to go, we've released a load a dead wood(along with a couple most of us would rather have kept), but there's loads of time and we're exactly where I'd expect us to be.
3 key players? Apart from Quinny who is decent I am sure we can replace Rosie and McShane. I would use the term key loosely.
Rosie and McShane going were understandable and long term fair play, Quinn going on a free is a shocker, was good when he played in the PL for us, would have really been a top played in the champo. Gutted about this one, but Bruce reaps what he has sewn.
It's not, most of the players really don't like Bruce. I don't know how many times it needs saying before ostriches start poly morphing back into people.
Seems the N'Doye to Swansea rumours have some strength to them, apparently he is to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours or so.
Everyone we've lost so far are very replaceable. I've said about 65 pages back, if we were to replace Quinn with Leon Britton then I'd be very happy. He'd be a step up. It's only if we start losing the likes of Chester, Dawson and Jelly that we'd have next to no chance of replacing with comparable quality.
We've had an excellent transfer window so far, we haven't lost anyone of note yet, and cut our expenses massively by shedding off some deadwood and average players. Easily the best transfer window in the championship.
We have next to no chance of replacing Rosenior. People with his commitment on and off the pitch are very hard to find these days.
They aren't, he loved the club but there are plenty of professionals out there who would do a job and have more ability.
Don't get me wrong, I'd have kept Rosie. But for Bruce he'd be warming the bench. Likes of McGuire and Lenihan need to have the opportunity to step up.
