I've already nominated Andy Flounders for his amazing goal scoring record despite being given limited playing time, because as an 80s player he'd at least be familiar, to many on here, but I'd also like to give a shout out to two players from the Raich Carter era of the late 40s-50s who never get mentioned on here but were outstanding for us in mid-field, Gerry Bowler and Bill Harris. Bowler was a cool, calm dominating presence, similar to the later Neil Franklin, who commanded the mid-field, while Bill Harris was a fearsome tackler who scared the heck out of our opponents. Great players but very underrated.
Flounders was a hell of a player as a kid. Scored tons of goals. My mate broke his leg as a kid playing football, they were both kids to make it clear.
Boaz Myhill. I know he was always a fans favourite, but the amount of games he demonstrated shot stopping at a level that can be described as nothing less than world Class amazed me. His shot stopping ability really was/is up there with the very best in the world. His distribution was always a bit iffy. And he wasn't the greatest at commanding his area, but in my opinion he is certainly hull city's finest goalkeeper since I've been a following.(mid 90's)
We won some 5 a side tournament or other at Madeley Street Baths and Phil Holme presented the trophy. We didn't keep in touch. Just thought I'd mention it like.
