After thinking about if for the right amount of time (a good 30 seconds or so) I will reluctantly allow Luis Enrique the chance to rebuild his tattered reputation at St Mary's whilst also allowing developmental secrets behind the Barcelona youth team to be bought with him.... on this occasion, I'll allow it....!

I just hope we make a decent appointment and that they stay for a couple of years, would be good to have some stability.

ANY manager that fails to get us into Europe or win a Trophy will be under pressure from the deluded parts of our fanbase. It's difficult to build stability when the fans demand instant success.

Stability is overrated. No one really has it these days.

I think continuity is very important, players need to understand and connect with their colleagues and their roles in a team formation.

Thats why the Manure team of the 90s/2000s was so great, most of them had been playing together since they were kids.

Trivia time: Nigel Adkins is our second longest-serving manager (by number of matches in charge, irrespective of competition) since the beginning of the Premier League era. Who is number one?

    It's a fair point though.

Constant change saved Sunderland for years, though probably contributed to demise in the end... though if they sacked Moyes in January, who knows? <whistle>

Any club appointing Mourinho knows they won't get stability, but he'll probably win a few pots on the way.

You could even cite us as an example, we've had a good few years without what most would call stability...

Probably Branfoot, but that was a different era when Saints hardly ever sacked managers, he wouldn't have lasted a season now because we were fighting relegation thoughout his tenure.

Branfoot it is. No Saints manager in the PL era has lasted a full three seasons.

Strachan is a good example of when continuity worked. He built a side that was better than the sum of its' parts, we had Chris Marsden, Rory Delap and Paul Telfer ffs!..<laugh>

And on the flip side, one who does take us into Europe or win us a trophy, will probably get taken from us.

Indeed, we're arguably a great example.

Watford seem to be using a lack of stability/continuity as an actual tactic.

Chelsea's trophy cupboard looks quite nice, for a club who goes through managers for fun.
