Bored of talking football. Let's talk cool Films. I need something to watch tomorrow so suggestions are very welcome. Right now watching Tron Legacy. All those who dissed it are plain wrong. Proper sci-fi. Brilliant film.

Agreed, Tron Legacy is a massively underrated film, it's excellent and has an awesome soundtrack to go with it.

Couple of other films I'd recommend:
    Training Day
    Man on Fire

    Crash
    Usual Suspects

Both worth a watch, however if you've got nearly 4 hours spare Lawrence of Arabia is a great film.

    Snowpiercer is a decent dystopian sci-fi - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/snowpiercer/

Ex Machina also looks as though it might be pretty good - http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ex_machina/

I wanted to like drive. It's a stylish film but didn't really think it was that great. Another Ryan gosling film I thought was pretty decent was 'A place beyond the pines'

Great film that was on the other day actually is Dead man's shoes

Great film, love Paddy Considine. He wrote the screenplay himself I do believe.

What are you after here mate? Some people's cool is other's dogshit. Some would say Drive is a cool film while I find to be a piece of contemptible, pretenious hipster ****. The three films it models itself on; Le Samourai, Thief and The Driver are all cooler and infinitely better.

Cooler meaning badass? I'm very much a late 60's/70's man for coolness/badassery with some 80's exceptions. Peckinpah, Hill, Friedkin ( you must watch Sorcerer, simply one of the greatest films ever made), Schrader etc

Hong Kong cinema I'm crazy about as well as modern Korean cinema. Some great examples of Korean films of the last years are Man from Nowhere, New World, Yellow Sea, I Saw the Devil, A Hard Day, Memories of Murder, A Bittersweet Life, Dirty Carnival, Public Enemy and Nameless Gangster (I imagine most have seen Oldboy anyway). Johnnie To is the guy to go to for cool modern crime/gunplay Hong Kong cinema.

hey man, booo, i loved drive. First time I watched it anyway. Second time i was looking at gosling like 'just ****in say something you mong'

watched it a third time and really enjoyed it again. I can see why there is such a love/hate thing going on with that film.

Im considering watching a korean horror in a bit, bunshinshaba, its between that or Rinne which is japanese iirc. Sorcerer looks amazing though, friedkin and scheider is an instant watch. Great and interesting recs as usual anyway mate.
