Chelsea v Manchester United Middlesbrough v Huddersfield or Manchester City Tottenham v Millwall Sutton or Arsenal v Lincoln City
The buffgooners will undoubtedly beat Sutton but if they don't then that's a non-league club in the semi-final. Crazy.
At least Tottenham are building a new stadium - part of the old one will be getting demolished free of charge
Lincoln'll be seeing more money than they ever dreamed of! Big payday at Arsenal, but even if Arsenal lose they'll fancy their chances against Sutton and a big semi-final.
Or more cynically, an easy passage for Arsenal. Has a Prem/1st division club ever faced two non-league names before in the 5th and 6th rounds of the FA Cup ?
What a poor draw for Lincoln, Sutton away. Bet they wish they had drawn a Premier League team like Man U.
Well if anyone wants to look, not since at least 1914, as that's the last time a non-league club reached the 6th Round. (given the smaller league at the time, it may be even longer since someone outside the top 92 reached this stage) Whilst I'm at it, 1938 for the last time the Champions were relegated.
Just read a piece about Wall 'fans' invading the pitch on Saturday and rushing towards the Lester end for a ruck... Throw them out of the comp or if the FA haven't got the bottle to do that don't give them any tickets for the Spurs game..
That happens relatively often (pitch invasions after shock or local derby type victory). It all seemed fairly amicable when I witnessed it on Final Score with Eilidh Barbour reporting. Perhaps it was 'Rockin All over the World' by the Quo that tipped them over the edge.
No, I'm saying it was smaller than it is now, so Lincoln's achievement is probably greater given much better teams were considered non-league back then. If the league was 30 teams in 1914 then the 31st best team in the country was a non-league team. In 2017 the Premier League and Football League total 92 teams, so you have to be the 93rd best team to be non-league. 93rd best team in England reach last 8 of the Cup, the first time a non-league team has done it since "31st placed side" in 1914 is the current headline. I think it's more impressive as 93rd placed team reach last 8 of Cup, the first time a side ranked that lowly has done it since...(probably even longer than 1914)
TV fixtures announced. The BBC have gone for Chelsea v Man U (Monday 13th March, 19.45 KO). The ****s them. BT Sport are showing Arsenal vs Lincoln City (Saturday 11th March, 17.30 KO).
I went to the away leg where we got hammered 5-0. We was absolutely dreadful. Driving back as one of four passengers we took the piss out of the driver to such an extent that he threw us all out of the car somewhere south of the Humber. If I went to the second leg, which we lost 2-0, I've managed to successfully block it from my mind.
Anyone want to go to the League Cup final? Front row in Club Wembley Gold. I was going, now I'm not, got 6 seats. PM me if you fancy it.
