Would anyone take Distin back (just been released by Bournemouth)? A more left sided central defender with bags of experience and could help with looking after our younger centrebacks.
It crossed my mind for a fleeting second this afternoon, until I realised he would be 39 years old in December.
And better than both as well. For 1 season in the Championship, think we can't go too wrong! Nee worries, I'll have a word with my grandma and she can look in the Daily Express over next couple of days to see if there is a chance of this happening!
This might not be a popular selection on here, but I'm not taking the piss... Rather than looking at an old has-been, who will only get through half of your games, surely, and won't be able to make the step up, should you get promoted. I feel you should be looking at Shane Duffy, who plays for Blackburn. He's only 24, big 6ft plus centre half. He learned his trade at Everton and then dropped down a division to get first team football. He has come on leaps and bounds for it, and I reckon, with another season in the Chumpionship with a promoted club, he'd then be more than ready for a return to the Premiership.
It's a great shout and it's exactly where we should be aiming. We've wasted so much money and effort on second rate "names" who, I think, only came because there were no better options than the Toon. Big time Charlies who pay too much heed to their agent and Graham Carr. What we need is players with ability that is matched by desire. We would have struggled, but if we'd had Ryan Taylor and Jonas Gutierrez instead of Florian Thauvin and Jonjo Shelvey, we'd probably have stayed up.
I don't know the player but it is exactly the type of recruit we should be looking for. Not just for this season but in future - we need a mix of talent and desire, it has always been the case but has been highlighted by the likes of Leicester, West Ham and Tottenham this season more than most.
I live in Bournemouth. Ask any fans and they say he was cack for them. No thanks. Hes too far past it.
Lets leave the transfer targets to Rafa, fellas. I'm confident that with his contacts in the game, we will get some cracking players in.
Injured, old, and above all....we hate him! He's got a volley of abuse everytime he's come here, I can't imagine he'd give everything for us! Jose Enrique on the other hand may be an option, still has years left in him, didn't completely burn his bridges.
