To think in eight years we have been promoted to the top flight three times.. and 4 of the seasons in those 8 years have been in the top flight and 2 seasons since have been promotions... i find it remarkable

hope everyone had a safe journey home

    People still moan.

It bewilders me a lot of the time.

We have never had it so good. So good, a Wembley trip is getting w bit "normal".

I don't mind debate and complaining, but never forget we have had nearly a decade of great times... Even going down and coming up gives a bit of variety!

Diame's screamer possibly stopped a potential fall from grace yesterday. I think we would all be talking about slipping down the leagues if we had lost. Funny old game football.

I don't think slipping down the leagues was on the cards. But promotion next year would have been difficult. On top of that the feeling of having thrown away promotion would have been as bad as throwing away top tier survival the previous year. Changes still need to be made though, we have to be tougher and not just play when we feel like it.

Agreed, especially since the takeover seemed nailed on regardless of result. If the Allams had stuck around if no promotion, then we might have slipped down if they began asset stripping.

A slight variation on BrAdY's post - next season will be the third in four years (or 5 in 8) as a premier league team. Can we now start to see ourselves as a premier league team with occasional championship visit or is our mentally that we are a championship team?

This is the key. So many City fans still stuck in the lower league mentality that how DARE we be ARROGANT enough to want PL stability and a better manager than Bruce, when he's the best we'll ever have. Need to move past this and start looking to stabilise in the top division through investment in infrastructure for the club to set us up long term.

On reflection Davies wonder tackle was just as important, maybe they would have held on to a 1-0 lead afterwards or even built on it

Yo-yo club tends to be a disparaging term, of a club that just hangs on.

West Brom were a yo-yo club, they've done alright for themselves.

Not sure really, I'd think it was more about the up and down element

I think we are pretty much the definition of a Yo-Yo team now.

In 7 of the last 9 seasons we have finished:

    Prem:

    16th
    17th
    18th
    19th

    Championship:

    2nd
    3rd
    4th

Just need to finish bottom of Prem and then win the Championship to complete the set.

With the increase in parachute money it may increasingly be easy to yo-yo. But it's better for us if we aren't just making up the numbers, a change of manager normally signals a change of intent and you saw that with Leicester going from just surviving to being comfortable. Watford don't seem to be resting on their laurels either. The mindset really depends on the ownership.
