I am in complete agreement alwaysright, the French were on a completely different level last night, and that is not their strongest team! Whilst the players were a mixture of inept, poor and average - the coach was also found severely wanting. With the players we had available I don't know why we would contemplate playing a system against a good side like the French that was likely to result in such an open match. I realise that we had a number of midfield options missing, but playing 3-4-3 with a central midfield combination of two players who would never be used by their club teams in the role that they were asked to play last night was madness and it showed! Add to that bizarre substitutions and it was just a recipe for disaster. As for the GK situation Jack Butland looks the best bet and should be installed as our number 1 for the world cup.
