I'm still trying to work out how some Egyptian clubs (Al Ahly, Zamalek, Ismaily) seem to have so much cash sloshing around. Not the sort of money the Premier League has, obviously, but enough to make those clubs a valid option that so few of their players feel the need to move abroad. It's especially obvious when you look at the Egyptian national team compared to that of Algeria, Tunisia or Morocco - and, yes, I am aware of the number of Algerian and Moroccoan internationals that were in French youth teams, such as Bentaleb or Taarabt.
I think that they've got very large support and their talent just isn't as good. They don't seem to be able to sign many foreign players, either. Barely a handful at those three clubs.
In Mabbutt I trust. You don't forge a career while suffering from diabetes + suffering injury from Crazy gang c***s to let this overcome you.
A true role model for overcoming the problems of diabetes to have an incredible career. He belongs alongside the greats of our club.Should already have been Knighted for his heroism, always supportive of Gazza when he needs he!p. Best wishes Gary. Thinking of you.
Probably my favourite player. Really reliable defender, at a time when most of ours were **** and just a very nice bloke. Hope he has a full and quick recovery.
That is actually a really nice thing for someone to say about another person. Very well said Gary Lineker .
Reuben Lameiras, our former Academy midfielder has got himself a decent move to Plymouth Argyle. Lameiras was released by Coventry at the end of the season.
Our former attacking midfielder Jack Munns, recently released by Cheltenham Town, has joined Hartlepool.
Had to drop down a level, but he's proven there, I guess. Also joined by Scott Loach, who we were linked with about eight years ago. His career has gone from the verge of starting for England to dropping into non-league football. I wonder what went wrong?
Zeki Fryers has been released by Palace. Someone got to be thinking it's worth bringing him in, just in case Man Utd pay a ludicrous fee to bring him back.
Following a loan spell at Genoa where he started one game and hasn't played a second of football since March, Adel Taarabt has returned to Benfica...'s B-team, which is the team he was assigned to following his arrival on a free transfer a couple of summers ago and looks set to remain there if he isn't offloaded this summer.
Michael Dawson linked wth a move to Burnley and Tom Huddlestone supposedly wanted by WBA and Watford.
I wonder if Daws will be used as a mentor for Michael Keane, given Man Utd have ended their interest after signing Victor Lindelof...about two years after first expressing an interest.
