I don't see what all the fuss is about. The current venal incarnation of FIFA represents the essence of top level professional football absolutely perfectly.
Everyone knows that they are a bunch of corrupt bastards with their noses in the trough, it has just never been proven. Let's hope that now they have evidence that will stick and that slime ball Blatter will be hung out to dry.
Also it's not just the FBI, Switzerland authority's are also conducting their own investigation. It's a two pronged attack this time. Oh well, here's hoping something comes of this investigation for once!
I'm getting out the crystal ball and predicting that a certain Mr Blatter will get shafted well and truly in the next couple of weeks. At least I hope so...!
Apparently when the police moved in to arrest them the FIFA officials all threw themselves on the floor pretending they were injured...
If he can get through this and still run for election and get elected, then he should change his name to Sepp 'Teflon' Blatter.
Cheers UTR. I know from your images posted that you dont do serious my friend- always very apt and extremely funny! I think it was, Hugh Dennis on Mock the Week that said Sepp Blatter should be continually voted in purely because his name sounds like "Step Ladder" !
Loving the theatre of these clearly coordinated raids while all these leeches are staying at the usual luxury hotel, going through their goody bags of Rolexes and Faberge eggs. Anyone else slightly embarrassed by the fact that it is the USA leading action at last on this (you can guarantee the Swiss are acting on someone else's request, they routinely ignore corruption unless they think it will make them look bad), rather than a country that actually cares about football? Good for the US of A!
Dear America, Sort out FIFA and we will forgive you for still calling football 'soccer' Sincerely yours, The rest of the world. p.s. if you need any help understanding the phrase 'rest of the world', Google it. don't just think it means Mexico and Canada.....
I won't believe it if Sepp Blatter walks away from this one. Any other person in his position would at least have the dignity to resign. Can't stand the man.
He was trying to bluster his way through with the line that this is a 'good day' for FIFA etc. As momentum grows for his resignation, especially from the sponsors, his position will become untenable. Interestingly, for the conspiracy theorists, I note that yesterday in the morning, 5 Live were scheduled to run a show called 'There's only one Sepp Blatter' featuring interviews with his daughter who, from the soundbites I heard, was going to tell us what a great man he is and how much he has done for worlds football. Is it just co-incidence that the arrests were made yesterday?
