Is that the one with Gary Oldman? I watched it a few years ago but for the life of me can't remember anything about it at all, think it might have been up for a lot of awards

Yes that's the one, I think it's brilliant, Gary oldman
Is very good in it, as is all the rest..
I have just one episode of the tunnel 2 left to
Watch, sat up till the early hours but at 3 am
Couldn't keep my eyes open. I think it's better
Than the first, watching the last episode tonight
After I watch a film.... Well worth a watch......

That was its name in the US, but everywhere else it was called Kidnapping Freddy Heineken. It got poor reviews and didn't do very well commercially, but I thought it was alright, I usually find anything starring Anthony Hopkins is watchable.

Although good I preferred the BBC series with Alec Guinness as Smiley, the trouble for me with the Oldman version was the way they changed things from the original. Having read the book trilogy and watched the BBC versions of both Tinker and Smileys People I was perplexed, and a little annoyed at that both the location and storyline were altered for the film version. But from what I read of the film version later on the changes were at the insistence of author John Le Carre.

I totally agree, Hopkins films are usually very good even if the other actors are crap. but what i found disappointing was that on the trailers one of the kidnappers said 'watch out he doesn't get inside your head', so I assumed Hopkins would play mind games with them and **** them around a bit, but except for ' you can run but you carn't hide', he didn't. I liked his line,'you can have lots of money or lots of friends, but you carn't have both'
    It was watchable though...

The origonal serise with sir Alec was at a time when I was 18, taking various mind altering
Substances and ****ing anything in knickers ( well almost everything) so I never got to
See it, but I'm told it was very good, will have to see it at some point....
I was in Holland a lot at that time in my life so you could probably imagine
Not a lot of telly was watched.....

Or Get Him To The Greek even...

For future reference, nothing involving Russell Brand is ever worth watching.

    Unless it's an execution.

I recently watched Woman In Gold, starring Helen Mirren who plays the role of Maria Altman who sought to regain several world famous paintings by Gustave Klimt including two portraits of her aunt, Adele Bloch-Bauer which were plundered, along with other valuable family possessions, by the Nazis following the Anschluss of Austria. She wasn't just seeking to regain what was rightfully hers, but also to obtain some measure of justice for the death, destruction, and massive art theft perpetrated by the Nazis. The film also stars Ryan Reynolds as Altman's lawyer and features Tatiana Maslany as the young Maria Altman. Incidentally, Tatiana Maslany was born here in Regina and is the daughter of an acquaintance of mine from the mid 1970s.

I thought this was an excellent film and strongly recommend it.
