I thought Hologram for the King was awful.

Lost in Translation is a fantastic film.

Sat through "Grimsby" at the weekend , i cant stand SBC's type of comedy , it really is the most simplistic , end of the pier ****e .
Most of the "comedy " had already been done to death in Shameless , (which i gave up on around season 4)
Some of the bits with Mark Strong were OK though . . . if you like Russell Brand style of japes then this may be worth a watch , i thiought it was crap tho

I'm filling the absence of decent new films and lack of football with more TV series. Seems to be the way things are going.

I would add the currently running "The Night Of" to my previous shout for "Mr Robot". Again not perhaps for action fans, but great filming and intriguing and relevant story lines. The Night Of is based on a 2008 BBC series called "Criminal Justice" which I haven't seen either.

Any recommendations for other good films which might have slipped under the radar over the years would be most welcome.

Worth a watch... a more grown up Hunger Games.

    ---

A very good documentary here on the ongoing crisis in the Western Sahara. Little known and rarely covered.

Decent run of films that Red Top Reader, not seen that Savages though so can't comment on that one. Big Lebowski is one film that avoided a sequel even though I bet there are a few movie moguls licking their lips at the thought

Black Snake Moan... wouldn't recommend. Worst I have seen Samuel L.Jackson in I think. Some interesting themes but all of them badly addressed.

Exploitative and uncomfortably pervy. Some good music but not from Sam.

Going to follow Rtr with Savages.

The Coens would never allow it, thankfully, at least unless they themselves were making it.

I read up on it, they say they plan to make a sequel to Barton Fink but not Lebowski but are waiting for the actor to get older so that they can do it. Barton Fink, I need to watch that again great film!
