I've just seen that this was (a little) over 21 years ago that Noel first aired this having just written it. I was there - was anyone else?: http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/on-th...n-world-premiere-at-sheffield-arena-1-7870288 It was my perfect gig on paper at the time - Oasis in their first ever arena show to be supported by The Verve. I was devastated when The Verve pulled out just days before when Nick McCabe broke his hand but Pulp were able last minute stand-ins. Little did we know when Noel picked up his acoustic that we'd be witnessing the first ever public performance of what would become a modern classic.
Some lucky people got to see Oasis at the Adelphi in Hull in the very early days. I'd have loved to have seen them live in a venue like that. They did write some classic songs, but then so did the Verve. It was for me a halcyon era for music. I saw them at Knebworth Park which was a mental experience. Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Manics.
Yes, they did a lot of small venues to start with. A couple of my Uni mates saw them a couple of times in similarly small venues before they moved onto much larger gigs.
Saw Kingmaker at Hull Uni, it was my first ever gig. There was a golden period when Adelphi, and briefly Room, had good bands on nearly every night of the week. I saw The Bluetones, Super Furry Animals, Gene, Baby Bird, Keneckie and ****loads more small indie bands who went on to do alright. I'm sure I'm forgetting a really famous one or two. .
We've probably been at the same venues about the same times I used to go to Adelphi quite a bit and Room on the odd occasion. Saw Blur at Hull Uni in '94.
I saw Noel at Liverpool Echo Arena on Monday night. A spectacular finalé of Don't Look Back in Anger. Can't believe it is over 20 years old now!
Black Sabbath - City Hall - Favourite guitarist Wishbone Ash - City Hall - Favourite guitar band Many more at City Hall, it was superb back in the day ...
Did anyone here go to that Steve Harley thing at City Hall the other night? The Mick Ronson/Dave Bowie tribute? I heard it was very good.
I saw Oasis at Glastonbury 1994. Never got round to seeing them proper. A few pals have seen Noel recently & all have said he's been very good. Were you buying tickets for these gigs or turning favours for a comfy seat, sat in the wings, away from the riff raff?
I saw Baby D - Let Me Be Your Fantasy - Live in Ritzy nightclub on Anne St in Hull in the mid 90's. Beat that you ****ers. What suprised me is she is still touring the clubs of Europe doing the same song. She's the female Noddy Holder AND HERE SHE IS LIVE IN HULL IN 2013 LOL, 19 years later greedy bitch
RopeWalk in Barton. Mate at work told me about it. They get some decent acts on. Paul Youngs on soon but its sold out. Think Snake Davis is on, might get some for him too. I'm hoping Mari's still alright, its my birthday and well I've always wanted to...
