We did well. Sissoko has to learn to have a end product. He is the most wasteful player we have. Mitro played real well. Tiote was back to his best! Taylor played well. Townsend and Shelvey look good signings.
Good overall team performance. Able to attack both sides of the pitch. Looked solid at the back but WBA really were poor all over the pitch. MOM Tiote. Shelves was very good and Mitro played really well but Tiote sneaks it as he solidified the whole team and was the Tiote of old.
Tiote definitely the difference for me. Allowed Shelvey the space to put his head up and spray the ball. Townsend was solid and positive, I wouldn't say he set the world on fire. Sissoko was positive too, but awfully frustrating as per usual. Aarons deserves a mention, young kid playing completely out of position, he nearly had another shocker right at the start but after he just stayed back and defended which is what left back ought to do. In defence of Aarons when he came on on wednesday we were already trailing and trying to get back into the game. Mitro again...sublime in his passing and hold up... just cant really finish. I'd like to actually see Mitro play deeper with someone ahead of him, either Gini or Perez. Gini had a quiet game but should have scored with that header.
I thought we would regret not scoring a second but one proved enough in the end. Thought Shelvey, Townsend and Mitro were outstanding. The problem is we don't seem to string many good performances together, we really need to change this.
Tell you what, WBA are in this scrap! They are a shocking side and if they hadn't somehow already earned 29 pts they'd be ****ed. Easily the worst side to visit SJP this calender year. I honestly don't think they'll pick up more than 4-5 pts in the next 5 games. Unfortunately they'll probably limp over the line though.
Their fans were **** too. They must have all shared the same taxi. Probably the worst away attendance I've seen this season.
