Dont agree with Bale. He spent 1 season in the championship. It should be for what they have achieved in the football league not what they have gone on to do afterwards

Yeah, I think the public could vote, so lots obviously just picked him as soon as they saw his name.

i agree that Bale shouldnt really have been in it. People who i think may have been harshly left out:

Tim Cahill - or was that more than 10 years ago now?
Chris Morgan - was an absolute rock for years
Gary Alexander (or is it Graham?)
    Nugent
    Kevin Phillips - surely?!
    Kelvin Davies the saints keeper

Cahill signed for Everton in 2004.

    For me:

    Kelvin Davies

    Gunter Morgan Morgan Cresswell

    Hoolahan Whittingham Alexander Lallana

    Rhodes Phillips

Though maybe this is a bit too late for Phillps? Cahill moved to the premiership in 2004. Nugent and Lambert are harshly left out in my team

I agree with the voted team other then Bale. Nigel Pearson deserves a shout for manager aswell as Nigel Adkins, Paul Lambert

All 3 have been promoted from League 1 and the Championship. Pearson won both leagues while the other 2 won back to back promotions

Surely Pearson has had the most consistent Championship finishes over the past 10 years?

Though im not against Howe, i just feel its short sighted in regards to how Bournemouth are doing this year.

Also think that Nugent deserves a mention, even before he came to us, he was pissing us off when we played against him.

Eddie Howe does seem a strange choice with more long-term successes like Mick McCarthy and Pearson, even Billy Davies could be in with a shout! Again, Jordan Rhodes hasn't been in the Championship that long, I think David Nugent should have been in there. Didn't Bale only play a handful of games as a 17 year old for Southampton?

It is the Football League as a whole, rather than just the Championship...

Both Pearson and Howe have two promotions apiece, but Howe could grab a third this season. Howe is yet to win a championship - Pearson has two. Both spearheaded miraculous survived campaigns early in their managerial careers, Pearson has finished midtable twice, Howe three times. In addition, Pearson has had a couple of play-off campaigns.

There's not much in it, but Pearson shades it for me (not taking this season into account as Bournemouth's fate isn't decided), HOWEVER, Howe has performed miracles at a small club (even if there has been some decent investment of late) so I'm not too surprised it's gone to him.

Eddie Howe has taken Bournemouth from being an average League 2 side to the brink of the Premier League (albeit with a **** spell at Burnley in between), why wouldn't he get it?

We discussed the team on our board, it's an absolute joke. I don't know how they can have a football league team of the decade when we're only 5 years into this one, but assuming it's 2005-2015 (which would be weird), Darren Moore, Damien Delaney, Julian Speroni and a whole host of others seem to have missed out, it seems to have been based on players who have just done well this season or gone on to become Premier League players.

It's to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the Football League Awards.

Well then it's not a team of the decade is it?! And even so, there are so many football league stalwarts that have been overlooked in favour of current premier league players who just happen to once play in the league.

Erm, yes? A decade is any period of 10 years. This is the best Football League team from the last 10 years (i.e. a decade)

I agree with your point though, that the team is balls.
Bale played one season in the Championship, in 06/07.
Scored 5 goals from LB, but surely more deserving players out there, who have contributed over a longer period?

It is a decade, but I'd have thought anybody looking at it would assume it was in reference to the decade we are in, rather than an arbitrary decade they've decided to choose. Jason Punchers must've made tons of League appearances between 2005 and now, surprised he hasn't made the list.
