Sam McQueen came on in the 84th minute for Southend today.

They beat high-flying Coventry 3-0 so explains why he didn't get on sooner.

Pleased that Argyle look like a good bet for promotion, as well. Their crises appear to be well and truly in the rear-view mirror now.

Southend won 2-1 with 10 men at Shrewsbury.

More to the point, Sam McQueen came on to play up front after more injuries to the frontmen.

Phil Brown's praised him in the appearances he's made. After last night's game he said he's 'a bit of a diamond', praised his versatility and his strength and pace and said he likes the young lad.

McQueen updates when I next have them...! <laugh>

Odd how football goes. At the weekend they gave AFCB a huge fright and played some very impressive winning football at times. You'd think they'd be able to walk away with League 2, but that's league versus cup football for you.

Sam McQueen scored his first professional goal.

He got the final goal in the Essex Derby, which ended 3-0 to Southend against Colchester at Roots Hall.

Surprise result of the day must be Bristol City winning. From a neutral point of view, I would like that club to be doing much better. You would think that a city the size of Bristol should be able to support and maintain a team in the PL. Woeful under-investment by the powers that be there over the years, but with their ground redevelopment they seem to be getting that correct.

So our friends down the road lose at home again. This is habitual and must surely be due to the quality of the players rather than just pure bad luck. From my perspective, the management have recruited poorly, getting a player on loan who has scored zilch this season. I feel they should set up a good scouting network in South London and get the best there that is missed by the likes of Crystal Palace rather than the "never will bes " they do sign up.

Rotherham sack manager Neil Redfearn. He only signed in October but Rotherham now sit in 22nd place. Still doesn't seem like they gave him enough time to me.

Derby sacked Paul Clement today ... crazy, esepcially as promotion isn't their aim this year.

That is sad. I've little doubt that the huge debt hanging over Bolton Wanderers has hastened his demise.
