A 400-mile round-trip, starting at 13:30 and ending at 03:00 the next day - for a 0-0 draw in Doncaster. Oh boy. :)

I also threw up on the drive back, suspect that I have broken my toe, and witnessed a man die.

I think I'll write that matchday off as one to move on from.

Remember it and store the memories or right them down. It sounds like a chapter out of Danny Baker's autobiography.

Saw a man murdered in front of me a couple of years back. Can still see it as if it was 5 mins ago. Dont try to block it out. Make sure you talk about it.

You probably read about it. Killed in Sainsburys whilst just waiting at the counter. One punch. Fell and cracked his head open. Wasnt even the intended target. Scary.

Remember that....the killer's GF pointed out the victim as someone who'd been rude to her. She deserves to never sleep well again, but I bet she has no real remorse.

So... tomorrow I'm covering a match for a national paper. Can anyone guess the match? (Clue: it isn't Southend)

Winner gets a biscuit. Or something.

Yup, I've seen a friend who I met on my first day at school (yr R) get stabbed, he ended up dying in hospital a few hours later. This was just over 8 years ago now which is crazy, we were only 15 at the time and had a football match the next day. I'll never get over that night.

It amazes me how many grown up men still think violence is an acceptable way to right a grievance. I'm 36 but still people make you feel as though you are in the playground! I watched a guy get out of his car and start punching another guy through his window in a traffic jam the other day. What on earth could one man do to another in a traffic jam which warrants a beating? And, on Saintsweb, people often seem to respond to insults by suggesting a meet up for a fight - as if this is the "manly" way to deal with it. I would suggest discussion and compromise are far more manly... but I guess that means I need to "man up". Ugh.

Oh, and I walked into my Staff room as a teenager to find my colleague dead on the floor (heart attack). Didn't see her die, but that's a memory that won't go away - so I have a lot of empathy for those who saw violent deaths. I hate violence. Violence is for weak-minded cowards, most of the time.

Wrong on both counts but I like what you did with the second one. Right division there, though.

I absolutely love that. This is what football is all about for all of us.

PS. Roy, I did something similar at Wembley stadium as a 9 year old. I'll await your call :)
