I’ve been keeping tabs on the names and trainers for the first crop of Frankel two year olds for next year and am replicating the list below. I will keep adding to it as and when I find out more information.

If you want to know more about the breeders/owners/pedigrees of the horses listed below you can refer back to my earlier threads on Frankel’s first book of mares and the performance of his offspring at the sales.

    Exciting times ahead in 2016!

I'd expect to see a big rush on names in the coming months and I tend to talk to a lot of British training yards in January/February so will be on the look out for any Frankel's there.

The French horses are easy to track down as they have a searchable database that is open to the public.

I am not sure about 'fizzy top' ! I feel sure if you spent what is necessary to breed your mare with Frankel you must at least be dreaming of a horse that goes into the record books, It's not easy to come up with a Dancing Brave but surely you could have done better than Fizzy Top.

    I quite like Brooklyn Bobby

    My suggestions would be

Warren Place - Warren Warrior - Warren Hill - Warren Beatty (no scrap that one) or Crathes Castle (only for a top notch prospect)

Can you send the idea of Crathes Castle to someone princess as I would love to see a horse running under that name? It is the ancestral home of Sir Henry in Scotland and where he is laid to rest.

I'm of the opinion that horses with daft names never reach the top level. A few years ago there was a horse called Frosty the Snowman entered in the Derby. He was never going to win!

Bluesky, I'm sure the name will have occurred to someone but if I chat to one of the girls at Juddmonte I will mention it.

<laugh> Never won a race but started favourite for one. Got beaten by another 3yo at Nottingham over 10f; I suppose that was inevitable <doh>

Have to say that I am in agreement with Bluesky9 about calling the Zee Zee Top daughter Fizzi Top, especially as I follow the family!

For what it is worth, I do not think that we will be seeing many of the Frankel two year olds early in the season as the book of mares that visited was not exactly packed with sprint pedigrees.

I've never found myself aligned to John McCririck, but I do agree with his premise that those ridiculous Arabic names should be nulified.

    Some would disagree.

I dunno Dex, names like Mutafaweek and Alhaarth just roll off the tongue. A bit like all those fecking Gaelic names Jim Bolger insists on <whistle>

Without causing controversy, could the one out of Noah's Ark be called "Arkel"

Racing Post have published a list of the two year olds with names and trainers (presumably from Juddmonte) so I'll update the list this afternoon while the mini-Princess has her nap!

I'm a bit confused as to why there are horses listed with Olly Stevens and Barry Hills as both have handed in their licences.

Frankly, I would have avoided any name containing all the letters of Arkle

You will both be struggling with your naming suggestions if trying to register horses in Britain (not sure about other jurisdictions).

Firstly, names that sound like previous famous horses although spelt differently are automatically rejected, so you could not have “Cher Garr”, “C The Starz”, “Dan Sin Brave” or “Dez Air Tour Kid” either.

Secondly, names which contain / sound like profanities or which are likely to cause offence are also barred. We might sometimes refer to them as “Feckin’ donkey” but the owners cannot officially name them as such.

The list of trainers containing the names of trainers who have relinquished their licenses almost certainly indicates that the list has been compiled based on which trainer the beast was stabled with at the time the name was registered. A friend of mine owns bits of a couple of unraced youngsters in syndicates, one of which does not have a name yet and is in Olly Stevens’ stable.
