Utterly superb Dai. The TV series is great. My only downside is that I'd read the currently published books before the TV series started. Best show on TV.

You MUST watch it from the very first episode. DO NOT skip any episodes etc.

Make sure you aren't busy. It's the type of show you'll get addicted to asap and binge watch.

Agreed. Whatever you do don't skip episodes as you'll lose the thread. I always binge watch each series over a week or so on the Fire Stick and never on TV as it's released. A word of warning - it's very violent at times so isn't for everyone. It's utterly brilliant though.

It's a political/military medieval drama set in the fictional kingdom of Westeros (and surrounds). Brilliant scripts, well-acted with a lot of complex plot-lines and a cast of thousands. They're not afraid of killing off lead characters. There are some particularly nasty bits and plenty of sex though not so much in the more recent series. It's not a fantasy medieval drama particularly, apart from the white walkers and the dragons. And the red priestess. They haven't got as advanced as guns, so its swords and bows and arrows. Apart from the green fire stuff (can't remember what that is called).

I think we're about to start series 7 (?) in April. To fully enjoy it I agree you'd have to start at S1 Ep1 otherwise most of it would be lost on you.

There's some memorable moments such as the red wedding, the battle of Blackwater and The Mountain crushing in The Viper's skull in a fight. And the walk of Shame.

The gore is gory, slightly shocking but not sick. I was watching Fortitude the other night when the shaman did something extremely unpleasant to himself which was far worse.

    Great show.

And it has some great sets. Basically 'made' in Northern Ireland but a lot is filmed in Iceland, Morocco, Spain and Croatia. Dubrovnik = King's Landing I believe.

The fire and ice themes are definitely coming to the forefront of the story now I think. I always worry that somebody will tell me what's happened before I get to binge watch as I always watch the series after it's finished.

I've actually watched it from Season 1 a couple of times now. You spot things you missed before.

When the dragon queen kills the last 2 Lanisters the dwarf and the ex queen in the throne room using her last dragon to BBQ them and gets all the remaining kings to bow down then join armies to beat the white walkers using that stuff that looks like coal ? It was a hell of a battle scene set in Brecon. Pity the dragon queen died cos it doesn't leave many lead characters alive after that battle and no dragons to carry on to a series 8 ?

The TV series has conveniently left out huge clues that are screaming out at you in the books though, like the reveal at the end of last season etc. I'd been waiting for that moment to be confirmed for 5 years <laugh>

I can bring football into this thread. Someone in the Telegraph fantasy football had a team called Game of Throw-ins. I would have been proud to think that one up <laugh>

I deleted it because you more or less spoiled what happens at the end of the first season which causes all hell to break loose <laugh>
