Looking at the final fixtures, we have got the easiest run in and it SHOULD really be a walk in the park.

BUT we all know how our players react to facing a massed defence. Pullis and Big Sam will work something out to make life difficult. West Ham Stoke Watford Middlesbrough and Bournemouth should not be a problem. As Everton is now considered a top side, 3 points for us. 21 points or 77 total.

By far the easiest fixtures. However we are unbeaten against top half teams with all our defeats against bottom half teams.

If we try to predict the number of points using an astro model based on past performance we should get 17 points from these 9 matches (as we got 36 points from 19 non-top 6 matches before!) . And that would give us 73 points. Despite appearances, our overall points gathering from these teams (2 points per game) is not too different from the top 6 ones. It is just that intuitively we would expect us to have many more points from weaker teams. The socialist in us makes us treat every team the same.<whistle>

Our first target is to win our five remaining home games.
Everton, Bournemouth , Crystal Palace, Southampton, Middlesbrough,5x3=15 points
    Four games away:
    Stoke
    West Brom
    Watford
    West Ham
    4x3=12 points. Say 7 points from possible 12 =7
    Total:22 points
Current points=56 . That would make 78 points
I think that should secure 4th position at least.

The bonus is a lot of teams still have to play each other meaning some 1 are guaranteed to drop points / potentially both.

Spurs have arsenal and united. Both at home so likely wins.

City have Arsenal and Chelsea away next 2 games plus united at home.

United have Chelsea at home. But city Arsenal and Spurs all away. That's a horrible fixture list but also a great chance for them to really put a marker down if Can win them.

Arsenal have city ad united at home and Spurs away.

So spurs have 2 against top sides, city united and Arsenal have none. Ideal scenario sees plenty of draws in there.

Its still in our our own hands, Win our games and we should finish in top 4 (would have to be some crazy results for that not to happen). Even though we've done better against top 6'id still rather have our fixtures because it's more likely we'll be able to turn our fortunes around and win against those teams below us

either way, can see it going right down to final week for top 4 place.

    As I said before.

69 points prediction in january from me and we are 4 points ahead of that.

73 points is most likely finishing total to take 4th but 2 points from utd.

We would need 17 points from 9 games to do so or 6 wins.

I can see 6 wins in there but only if we beat everton

I think we can all say arsenal need to win all remaining games.

After this it could well be a straight lfc v utd fight for 4th.

Looking at the fixtures. Utd have a lot of tough games, but a relatively easy route to winning the Europa league. They are much more likely to get champions league football down the Europa route

Top 4 rivals all gonna be taking points of each other through playing each other

We've got to take care of our business, but as has been pointed out given our form this season, what is an easy looking run-in on paper could turn out to bite us

Really we should be getting top 4 now with those games

    Basically no excuses.

This last international break is the last excuse possible if lads get injured.

Imo if lfc cant win 6 of these 9 games thry dont deserve it anyway

We really ought to get at least 20 points from that lot, but given our generous nature towards struggling sides who knows?
We can hope that the teams with little to fight for just can't be arsed and we can turn them over but we really do need to develop a killer instinct.
If we don't get a top 4 spot the whole lot need shooting, tbh.

I wasn't predicting we would get 20 points, just saying that a team at our level and ambition ought to take 20 from that set of games.
It all depends on whether or not we can shake off the lethargy that creeps in against teams we're expected to beat.
I said if we don't make top 4 we need shooting, well I'm already loading the gun.......
