Final green. Rose's birdie putt shaves the hole, settles for a par. García with birdie putt to win. And misses. Gets a par. Now for sudden death playoff, and a late night.
It would be fitting for García to win, on what would have been Seve Ballesteros' 60th birthday, but whoever does win, it's not an American.
Really enjoyed the final day at the Masters. Sergio deserved the win, finally, just a shame it had to be against Justin.
They both deserved the win as it went to the wire...thought Justin would do it after Sergio missed an 'easy' putt on the 18th before the play off. However, not to be. Pleased for Sergio.
Also, most of the passes are not the DRS-reliant blow-bys of the last couple years. The turbulence from the new aero package seems to have limited its efficacy, but the giant wheels also seem to provide more opportunities to out-brake in corners...there were some seriously late moves being made, by Vettel in particular. If there's marginally less overtaking, but it happens in exciting and skillful ways rather than because someone was in the right place to be gifted enough pace to fly by, I'm all for it.
Rose looked to be tiring on the 18th and in the playoff, hit a couple of bad shots (caught some fortunate bounces) whereas Garcia kept his approach play excellent. I thought that Rose would roll his putt on the 18th in though. Congrats to Garcia and commiserations to Rose, both great players.
Blimey, Alonso is skipping the Monaco GP in order to race in the Indy 500. That'll be quite something.
Although I dare say Jenson wishes this year's McLaren was as far ahead of the pack as his Brawn was when he won in Monaco!
It reminds of when Jim Clark got a pass from Lotus to take part in the Indy 500 and Lotus actually built him a car, with which he pissed all over everyone else in the race. About 1964-5?
