Last night's viewing was tarnished by Football Club's 'supporters' invading the pitch at the end of the game thus obstructing the view for those sat low down in the stands. I hope the ugly scenes don't mean a points deduction for them next season, a hefty fine, or games played behind closed doors.
Yet we will still take more fans to games in London than the rugby teams take to far flung outposts like Huddersfield, Wakefield and the games so far away you almost need a passport like Wigan and Salford.
We will still take more in a time of turmoil and upset greater distances than FC, in their best season for decades have done, or Rovers.
I have to agree with you there, its a poor generalisation that footballers are pansies when actually its quite physical game and there's some tough guys playing it, you only have to look at Macca getting his leg stapled back together then playing the rest of the match to see that. However it is acceptable in football for a player to roll around screaming or feigning injury at the slightest knock, something which is tolerated by managers, referees, plays and fans alike. If that happened in rugby the players team mates would make sure he never did it again, their own fans would berate them and the manager would have words whereas in football its just accepted as part of the game.
I should ****ing hope so, football's the biggest game in the world. Can you image the credit City would be getting if we took almost our entire average home attendance to an away game?
I certainly wouldn't call football players pansies at an level, I see the same passion in a game of football as in any sport. What i would say is the way SOME players when they get tackled go down like they have been shot followed by a 50 yard roll on the floor holding the wrong leg (to me the cheats) and then get up limping seconds later nothing wrong with them, our own Elmo is a good example as was Aluko. What I am saying is some footballers ACT unlike the guys in sports like Rugby. As I said earlier Josh Charnely (Wigan)was banned for simply touching the refs shoulder. Two match ban, job done.
It's called feigning injury or a foul. Done to con the ref. Hope this helps. See also appealing for every throw-in regardless.
We're in the biggest league in the biggest sport in the world, there'd be something seriously wrong if that wasn't the case. Boro have further to travel than us for almost every game next season but I bet we don't outnumber their away following for a single game.
Extraordinarily high number of folk sporting the black and white today in town. By contrast, virtually no LFC or MUFC leisurewear on show. Just goes to show.
There was a guy in the gym this morning with a Hull City training top and some Sydney Rooster shorts, typical football fans, not supporting their local RL club in favour of glory hunting.
Our away attendances which have been declining for a number of seasons, exacerbated by the feeling of apathy and resentment most have for the club at the moment.
It is otherwise it wouldn't happen, if a RL player did it their team mates and manager would make sure they never did it again, in football the same players do it week in week out, people are clearly accepting it or it would stop.
I have pointed that out about Sunderland before but insular, parochial Hull types accuse you of treason for suggesting elsewhere might be better than Hull in anything. Our support is poor compared to some similar clubs. Maybe a dislike of venturing too far from home is a Hull thing? There have been quite a few articles where rugby fans in Hull have claimed Super Leaguevwouldn't want to lose the Hull clubs as they take 3,000 to every game. Hilarious but true.
