Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic will join Russian Premier League side Zenit St Petersburg on a free transfer, according to reports in England.

The Serbian star is said to be on the verge of ending his nine-year spell at Stamford Bridge for a lucrative deal as the Russian outfit reportedly offered a two-and-a-half year contract worth around £82,000-a-week.

The 32-year-old is contracted with Chelsea until the end of current season but manager Antonio Conte will probably let him leave in January.

Ivanovic did not feature in Premier League regularly since Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation in October.

He's been immense for us and a great servant, thank you Ivan.<applause>

Have to agree with this. there was a period when we were locking horns on a regular basis against one of the best teams ever put together, Barca. Ivanovic was one of the rocks that stood firm against them, am I right in saying Messi has still not scored against Chelsea and Ivan played in every game.

Ivanovic for me was one of the best right backs in the game at his peak. Solid in the air, solid on he ball and pretty quick too. Unfortunately, he's lost his pace and acceleration the last couple of years and he's been a liability. Thanks for all the years of service though Ivan

Always sad when a great player comes to the end of his Chelsea career. Ivan was one of the best and definitely one of the toughest defenders I have seen at Chelsea. For all this, he was never a "dirty" player. He leaves with every trophy any professional would be grateful to earn, and earn them he did. His extremely loyal and distinguished Chelsea career will never be forgotten.
Best of luck with new club, hope he is soon back at the Bridge as a guest or part of the staff.

Very sad to see the service of a great man, who made a huge contribution to a golden period in our history come to an end. He will be remembered for all the right reasons. The only pity is he won't be given a chance to say a proper goodbye on the pitch!

Cheers Brana. Great servant and an outstanding defender over the years. The time is right for him to leave, and I wish him all the very best.

If the WBA rumour is correct they will be getting an absolute rock that will improve not only their defence but team as a whole. I would prefer him to go abroad for obvious reasons but at least we get to see him play a bit more on MOTD. Very astute is Mr Pulis.

Well past his best and was a good time to get rid but was one of the best i've seen when in his prime. Hope he continues to be successful in Russia!
