Is typing typo's instead of typos a typo or just poor spelling?

A man of vast intelligence surely knows you either have one dot to end a sentence or three dots which is an ellipsis. Four dots is meaningless.

Does it explain why the plural of sheep is sheep, or when to use 'close' rather than 'shut' or why an American can make a capital speech from the Capitol?

    These things are important.

If the ellipsis ends the sentence, I reckon it's two dots and a period.

So what's a spot, and why is it one ellipsis and not three dots, or two and a period?
