I see Eddie O'Leary said Don Poli is unlikely to run too due to the harsh assessment given by Phil Smith.
Clearly the esteemed Mr Smith has no need to be so apparently harsh on the Gigginstown runners, its not as if they sneaked one in under the radar to win last year's race or anything
Triolo D'Alene @ 50s would be a decent ew punt. Below his Hennessy winning mark but would need plenty of good in the going description to have a chance.
Without studying any form, my initial reaction would be to short list: Blaklion The Last Sumari Minella Rocco O'Faolains Boy
Good on Mr Smith. I'm rather pleased his assessment makes no sense to the O'Learys. Maybe he's flown with those clowns and like me would never ever cut them any slack. That said it's a bit off to hammer all entrants from that isle - just Gigginstown.
Yep touch and go at 67 on the list with 10 stone 2. 10 stone 4 was the cut off last year but in the 3 years prior to that 10 stone 2 got in. Would help if the Gigginstown pipsqueak continued to throw his rattle out the pram and withdrew his dozen or so entrants.
For Blaklion read Vieux Lion Rouge. I think he has more to give than Blaklion and Blaklion looks a bit on the small side
Ron, I wouldn't read to much into yesterday's performance. I think blaklion was giving the winner 8lbs yesterday, for me the pipes are unreliable these days and that was there national. I'm not sure but blaklion will probably drift in the market which is a good thing for me and he will improve for that performance.
Phil Smith does take the piss a wee bit with the Irish entries but he has a tough enough job trying to keep everyone happy.Surely it's time both the English and Irish hcapping fell in line together, its a no brainer for me.As for o Leary this man has never listened to the word no in his life and takes it as an insult when things don't go his way. It's toys out of the pram stuff and embarrassing really.I've never been a fan about how Gtown go about their business and never will be.
Oi!! He wasn't under MY radar You may remember Jay Trump Ron The Last Samari does look interesting, but it's too early for me to get serious about it
The Last Samuri for me all day long chaps. Excellent 2nd in the race last year, and can't forget Mr Rooneys comments after the race saying it was a good run, but was just a rehearsal for this year!!
He's on my short list Stick but I'm not overly keen on hold up horses in this race. Will have to be very lucky to avoid all the trouble that undoubtedly will occur ahead of him. Don't suppose you have any insight regarding Drop Out Joe? 80/1 currently and I thought this one won very well last summer but a lay off since then hardly inspires confidence.
