1. As the saying goes, never let the facts get in the way of a good story. <Narrative (TM) > 2. At best, the Poool got 15m in total more for Suarez + Sterling than Spurs got for Bale + Modric. <chapeau>
Mickey Quinn, Liverpool FC legend. Born in Everton, played for Wigan, Stockport, Oldham, Pompey, Newcastle, Coventry, Plymouth, Watford and PAOK. He has spent time in jail though, so I guess that increases his qualifications.
Here's something to consider: the media have relegated Arsenal from the Sky 4 Consider the clear differences between the way the media report about Arsenal compared to Liverpool, Chelsea and the Mancs * The media report about all the fantastic players those four clubs will sign - yet report that Ozil and Sanchez are likely to leave Arsenal * The media laud those four clubs' managers to a ludicrous degree - yet they certainly do not do this for Wenger * The media drool about when those four clubs put four or five goals past Hull - yet shrug their shoulders when Arsenal do the same * The media look the other way when those four clubs' players dive and generally cheat - yet won't shut up about it when an Arsenal player does so * The media swallow any bullshit that Guardiola, Klopp, Moronho or Conte give them - yet question what Wenger says * Super Sundays used to feature matches involving Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool - now they feature matches between Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City Let's be honest, if with five games left the top four are Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal, the media will wish Arsenal got out of Moronho's way - which sounds suspiciously like what happens when we get in the way of their favourites...
I have to agree with you HBIC! Also wanted to further comment on the earlier point about being a "selling club". There is of course no definition as to what people mean by "selling club" and it may mean different things to different people. It is probably just used as a term of derision about certain clubs, but as pointed out, all clubs sell their best players. Many clubs sell to the financially bigger teams which seems to be perceived as the right order of things, but normally make good money on that possibly ensuring their survival (and are then described by Talkshite et al as smaller teams). These so-called bigger teams still sell players, often selling on players after a short time at a huge loss, but attract no condemnation whatsoever. So are "selling clubs" those that make a profit on transfers? Let's see your definition TalkShite, plus an explanation of what's wrong with that, since it's one of the best ways to survive in the current lopsided financial situation most find themselves in. The other term often used but never defined is "world class". You'll often hear those all so knowledgeable pundits argue over which players are world class without establishing what the hell that means ... which kind of makes the whole argument pointless!
Kaboul's popped up in the Daily Mail running off the usual drinking game's worth of quotes, such as feeling "disrespected" by the manager, saying he was dropped because of injury, and saying how he doesn't understand why he was suddenly frozen out of the squad. If the Wail bothered to do their research (you know, something which journalists are expected to do...) it would not have taken long to find the obvious reason: Kaboul's form was the absolute pits that season, and with Dier starting his Spurs career so well it really was a no brainer to drop Kaboul for the in-form player - let alone the widely accepted stories of Kaboul not putting in the effort in training and being a mopey git in the dressing room.
If you are a selling club surely you sell to your rivals, i.e. another Premier League team. Selling to Really Maddogs is just avoiding selling to the likes of the Chavs, Manure or Citeh. I think Berbatov was the last example of us doing this and even then his head had been turned at the last moment. Levy learnt from that. Both Modric and Bale had decided that they were off, we delayed it as much as we could and them sold each of them to a team who paid top dollar who we don't face week in week out. On reflection good business. Weren't the Chavs interested in Modric and Manure after Bale? Many say we wasted the Modric/Bale money but a team must spend it or, if one records a big fat operating profit the Taxman will take a large tranche of it anyhow. I don't agree with everything that Levy does but from a fiscal view-point he couldn't do much better.
Mirror reporting Real Madrid will bid for Dele in the summer. This transfer window has only been open 48 hours yet they are already discussing next summer's window
Yes, that's because Really Maddogs are banned from signing anyone this window, otherwise we'd be expecting a 'huge' bid tomorrow. In other news the BBC World News this morning reported that Chinese Super Leage teams are making huge bids to sign EUROPEAN players. Oscar and Tevez were the two examples of EUROPEAN players that they used in their broadcast.
The Wail are reporting that we are blocking any attempt by the Spammers to sign Trippier. In other words, according to the Wail, apparently it is wrong of us to wish to keep hold of a useful member of our squad if West Scam click their fingers and expect him to come running just because they offer...remind me, what is it West Scam can offer that we can't?
"What a potential Dele Alli has! I remember watching him life at MK Dons the day Pochettino came to see him. He looked different. He has all you can see plus the pause. For me he will be better than Lampard. He is watched by everybody of course, but Real Madrid, at this point in time, have got no intention to go for him. Let's see how he develops in the next few years but Pochettino has created such an atmosphere at the club that nobody wants to leave." - Guillem Ballbag, half an hour ago on a live Q&A which is available on SSN's website Remember this quote for the remainder of the transfer window - and the several dozen clickbait articles posted by...SSN.
Sources have told ESPN FC that interested clubs in China have enlisted the help of top European brokers to try and do a deal for Alli, with his suitors ready to pay the 20-year-old up to $1 million (£809,323) a week net. please log in to view this image
Sticking with the wages being thrown around in the Chinese Super League, apparently Tevez isn't getting the £615k p/w that's been widely quoted, in fact his wages are more like £225k p/w - or to put it another way, it's getting a lot more difficult for the English media to talk about the "stupid money" being thrown around when it transpires the Chinese Super League is merely matching the Premier League's spending.
Stan Collymore says he would personally drive Dele Alli to whichever "major" club made a bid for him. Considering the activities that Collymore is well known for indulging in when in his car, that's reason enough to file for a restraining order.
Is he saying goes that cos lwe should not be allowed to have a decent player or because he thinks Dele is over rated or cos he is simply an objectionable twat who (after being deemed too **** for talkshite ) is desperate for publicity?
The real question is why The Mirror bothered to ask his opinion in the first place. Even among the ex-pros who routinely demonstrate that playing football for a living doesn't mean you can give an informed opinion on the subject, he's habitually proven to know the square root of jack ****.
As I recall from his commentaries, Collymore has always had it in for us, although heaven knows why the Brummie* twat has a beef is beyond me. Maybe we turned him down at some point? A possible connection is that our former star Peter Taylor sacked him at Leicester when he took over from Martin O'Neill but that's pushing it On that note, anyone know where PT is now? Great player, bloody good coach and a thoroughly good egg! * yes I know he's from Staffs but that's close enough
