Pompey's push for promotion is being echoed by The Hawks in the Isthmian League Premier Division. For those who don't follow the goings on up the A3(M), Havant & Waterlooville were relegated (from National league South) on the final day of last season, having been in that division ever since its inaugural season in 2004. The Champions are automatically promoted to National League South, with 2nd to 5th in the playoffs. With five games to go, The Hawks are currently 2nd, four points behind Bognor Regis Town, who visit Westleigh Park on Easter Monday. Run Ins: Bognor 1/4 Enfield Town - away (current position 7th) 8/4 AFC Sudbury - away (23rd) 15/4 Harlow - home (9th) 17/4 HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE - AWAY (2nd) 22/4 Met Police - home (15th) HAWKS 1/4 Dulwich Hamlet - home (5th) 8/4 Tonbridge Angels - home (6th) 14/8 Canvey Island - away (17th) 17/4 BOGNOR REGIS TOWN - HOME (1st) 22/4 Kingstonian -away (21st) Good Luck to the Hawks - and from my childhood pre-merger days "Up the 'ville"!
So Dev, you were a "Villain" as a youngster ?! I used to go to Jubilee Park to watch the 'Ville many years ago when I lived in Cosham. They have always had a number of ex-Pompey players in their squad, which is good to see. Hope they can win automatic promotion this season, with Bognor going up via the playoffs
More importantly, Farnborough are second! And have made up 2 points on the team in 1st! Alas, they're still quite a bit ahead I think.
Enfield Town 1-0 Bognor Hawks 2-1 Dulwich --- Bognor Pld 41---25-10-7---79-39 (+40)-----85 HAWKS... 41---25-09-8---83-42 (+41)-----84
In fairness, Hawks are much more likely to go up seeing as they're not far from 1st and Hampshire teams don't do play-offs. Wouldn't it be nice for a triple Hampshire promotion this season? Hawks, Portsmouth and Farnborough. Though neither Fleet, Basingstoke nor Aldershot are anywhere near promotion.
Going into the Easter weekend the position is thus: Bognor Pld 43 GD +44 Pts 88 Hawks Pld 43 GD +43 Pts 87 Havant & Waterlooville are away to Canvey Island tomorrow, while Bognor entertain Harlow on Saturday. The big game is on Easter Monday, when Bognor visit Westleigh Park in what may well be the title decider. If you're not travelling to Nottingham on Monday then why not get yourself down to Westleigh Park on Easter Monday and swell the numbers among the home support. KO at 3pm. Canvey Island 1-2 Havant & Waterlooville. The Hawks are top for now, with Bognor playing tomorrow. If you're not going to Notts County on Monday get along to Westleigh Park for Hawks v Bognor
Hope the Hawks beat Bognor, dev. Be good to see them back in the higher division. Looks very much like Gosport Borough are going in the opposite direction.
HAWKS 1-0 BOGNOR Havant & Waterlooville top the table by 2 points with one game to play, but must equal Bognor's result in the final game to go up. Hawks away to Kingstonian (16th) and Bognor at home to Met Police (18th)
Just a bit of info. The attendance at Westleigh Park on Monday was 3,455. Only three National League games had higher attendances. This is higher than the League Two attendances at Accrington, Barnet, Morecambe and Yeovil. Also it was higher than the League One attendance at Rochdale. UP THE HAWKS!
That is impressive. Must be partly down to Bognor's travelling army So Bognor have the Cozzers at home, let's hope they don't accidently leave a bundle of used notes, under the away dressing room bench.
HAWKS ARE UP! Havant & Waterlooville have won the Isthmian League Premier Division and are promoted back up to the National League South at the first attemt. The Hawks drew 0-0 away to Kingstonian, but won the league after Bonor were held to a one-all draw at home by the Rozzers (ahem - Met Police). UP THE 'VILLE!
And more importantly, Farnborough are through to the play-off final after beating Egham 4-0. Can they finally break the Hampshire play-off curse?
No local derby next season; Gosport have been relegated from National league South. With the geographics of the ups and downs I don't know whether they'll be in the Southern League or the Isthmian League next term.
