**** me, you still here? As regards the Hotel, the Ferensway site is only one being looked at by Hilton. It's not cast in stone yet.....or concrete
They could go for something more European sounding. Perhaps to reflect some negative locals 'Les miserables' or if they want their brand in it, what about 'Les Hilton'?
i bet this gets finished before my kitchen :/ as for the drinking from the bathroom taps . . . . for 4 days ive been drinking it (coffees only - i cant bring myself to drink it straight)
Yeah I had a little look too. Seems like it took most time to flatten the site out, once the foundations are in I suppose it's just like a giant flat pack!
The Cornmill got torched last night... please log in to view this image FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a suspected arson attack at the old Cornmill Hotel in Holderness Road. Fire crews were called to the derelict east Hull hotel shortly after 8.30pm on Monday following reports of a fire inside the building. The cause of the fire is believed to have been deliberate. A Humberside Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The fire started from a significant amount of discarded rubbish on the third floor of the building. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Arso...tory-26326686-detail/story.html#ixzz3XGpvLI1h
Who owns it? Look like a classic insurance job a la The Majestic in Leeds recently. It was redeveloped to such a high standard that nobody took any of the units as they were too expensive. Next thing you know, miraculously a local homeless man has been charged with arson. Hmmm......
The people that owned it went bust, so I assume it's being sold by a bank, that being the case it's not an insurance job, more likely just kids. According to the agents handling it's sale, it's under offer anyway.
I went passed The Cornmill last night at the time of the fire - didn't look too bad, but there was a lot of thick smoke - all coming from the top of the stone tower at the back.
Another one bites the dust - The George Lamb Memorial Chapel on Lambert Street was burned down last night... please log in to view this image please log in to view this image It had just received planning permission to be converted into flats.
My mum went to Keep Fit there when I was a kid. Shame it had plans that now, I would strongly imagine, are scuppered.
Sadly, it looks like much, if not all, of this place is going to have to be demolished... please log in to view this image
