15 goals in one season = £28m??? Crazy money... even if he does become prolific. At this stage of his career he can't be worth a lot more than £22m tops. United have really inflated the market with their crazy money for Shaw and his ridiculous wages. Thank god Chelsea got their business done early.
Dont complain dude! That money came to us. Same as David Luiz wasnt worth £46m or whatever it was, but I aint gonna look no gift horse in the mouth
hahaha, you do realise that in the past 2 seasons only RvP and Suarez have scored more league goals than Lukaku don't you? The RS paid £25m for Lallana btw, to give the fee some context, lol.
They're all worth what someone is prepared to pay. Time was we paid over the odds, but it worked for us for some time. Now its someone elses turn.
To think we've recouped around 130 million for De Bruyne, Mata, Luiz and Lukaku in a matter of months; this represents some brilliant business by us. Two of those barely kicked a ball for us and the other 2 not fancied by Jose. The profit alone we made on these have funded Fabregas and Costa!! Transfers fees are generally mental at the moment. Am I surprised we got 28 million for him given he only had 2 years on his contract and a poor world cup?, of course but as we know, it's hard to bag a decent striker nowadays and Everton desperately wanted him. He's certainly in the same bracket as Shaw and Lallana in terms of what he's achieved so far i.e very good premier league player.
To be fair you did pay nearly 20 million for him 3 or 4 years ago, there is no way he was worth that then, and he is much better now that he was then.
The same reason you paid £50 million for Torres and £30 million for Shevchenko Good signing for Everton though.
The way transfer fees have gone through the roof, got me thinking! I've got to be worth a few million myself and I'm retired!
Hindsight is a wonderful thing of course.... How about 10 million for Frank Lampard? One of the best P.L deals ever...in hindsight.
can't compare 13 yrs ago to now. 'specially as football inflation rate > general inflation rate, due to football irrationality > general irrationality.
Ouch! To be fair Tobes I see a bit of good on both sides with this transfer. Personally, I have wanted him gone for some time as his dealings within the press/media shows him up as an arrogant, spoiled brat to us lot. You on the other hand have seen him bang a few in so are therefore delighted - Win, win. I actually took fair time to watch him at Everton and believe he is lacking on many levels. Yes, he scored a few but the way you lot play under Martinez is a completely different ball game to the Everton under Moyes ........ even I'd notch a few for you these days as your full of attacking intent. In my opinion you were the best side to come to Stamford Bridge in the league last season despite your unlucky loss. Lukaku's first touch is woeful and back to goal he is no more than average at best. His biggest attributes are right time, right place and running at weary defences in the latter stages. Of course he can improve and likely will but his billy big bollox mentality would concern me. I wish him well and more so Everton as in recent times your one of the few clubs I don't dislike. May he bang a few in against your neighbours, the Mancs and Goons but have an off day against us .
It's a good signing for Everton as he's a proven PL goalscorer. The transfer fee is a big one but there's been a fair few of them this summer. Good amount for Chelsea to cash in but it does suggest that the owner is still calling some of the shots. Surely Mourinho would rather have Lukaku as Costa's understudy than the hapless Torres. When Lukaku realised that he was going to have to stand in a queue behind Torres he quite understandably wanted out.
