Footballers are better off having their kids young. It's a dream job, but let's face it, they don't get much of a life during season time.
All this on the strength of a maybe. I'd be more worried about a big fat 40 something bloke asking a child if he's earning enough money...
True. So perhaps our sympathy should lie with the aforementioned shelf stacker then, rather than with the England U17 and Premier League youth player.
Why not pay'em both decent wages? How they progress after that is up to them but at least they won't starve in the meantime. I mean Josh Tymon could end up playing league 2, break his leg at 24, end of career. The shelf man could end up doing a Terry Leahy or Philip Clarke (Tesco bosses who started at ground zero, I believe). Just because Tymon's got a job some folk (including me!) dream of doesn't mean he shouldn't be decently paid for it.
Shaqiri against Tymon? No thanks... need to change formation for me, go 3 at the back and 5 in midfield, snodders left mid and elmo right.. no point in putting square pegs in round holes. ___________Marshall _____Dawson Maguire Davies Elmo Livermore Clucas Mason Snodgrass ___________Henriksen ___________Hernandez Or Keane & Hernandez upfront together.
Three at the back, you're having a laugh aren't you? Maguire is too pondrous, Dawson (no pace) doesn't like playing in a three and poor old Curtis may still be shell-shocked after Saturday ....... these three, with the same midfield that capitulated against B'mouth, versus the pace and trickery Arnautovic, Shaqiri, Bony & Diouf ...... it'll be a ****in' bloodbath.
How are we ever going to know if the youth team players are good enough if we don't give them the opportunity when they crop up? An example was Southampton over the weekend - second choice left back got injured early on in the game, so they brought on McQueen - a player with one first team appearance to his name - he had a terrific game and must have been a contender for man of the match. Get Tymon in, let's see if he is good enough? If he is we've found ourselves cover at left back. He did well in the cup games, keeping him out of the picture won't do him any good - he needs to play.
I would also put Weir under consideration. Have seen him in a couple of games for Man U. reserves where he operated at left back.
Good point, but whilst not familiar with academy pay I am sadly familiar with the Allam's, and common sense went right out of the window years ago.
Weir himself has said he's not good enough at RB let alone LB, as has everyone else who knows him as a player.
