Utterly ridiculous decision. It should have been overturned. Every referee who has commented on it says it wasn't a red, didn't even look a yellow live.
After Simon Francis received a red card for a tackle in the Bournemouth v Arsenal match last January and lost his appeal, I gave up on expecting any red card tackles being overturned. Positive for us was that their captain missed our home match!
As I said to you earlier, red cards are only rescinded if it's obvious that that ref got it completely wrong. A red given out when it should have been yellow is not something that will ever get overturned, it needs to be no offence at all, otherwise they'll always stick with the refs decision.
That Feghouli tackle on Jones is still a foul but was rescinded so not sure that's true. Regardless, I was wrong that it would definitely be overturned, and I'm sure that won't be the last time I'm wrong.
The ref had an aberration, he had a rush of blood, but once done it was not going to be undone. We regroup and move on.
Don't think we really thought it would be Dennis. More in hope which is a lifelong state when you follow the city, the city, the city and that's the way we like it, we like , we like it.........Whhhoooooaaahhhoo
We lived in hope DBT. We're going to be missing a really important player for 3-4 of our remaining few fixtures - if the task in hand wasn't difficult enough, this has made it even more difficult.
An explanation of what the appeals panel consider when reaching a judgement - The Commission isn’t deciding whether or not they agree with the referee’s interpretation of the rules, or whether they think he was overly harsh, the only question they ask is: Did the referee make a real, live, honest to goodness mistake?
And the answer is yes. As I mentioned earlier, Feghouli had his card rescinded despite it being a clear foul, the panel does not require the incident to have been no foul at all in order to reppeal the red. In fact they should have at minimum recognised 3 games is too harsh and reduced to 1 game in the first instance.
As others have said Dennis, more in hope and if you don't ask, you don't get. A no brainer really, after a 3 match ban we could be down anyway, so nothing to lose by appealing and risking a further match ban. We now need warriors in the team to play for their lives, maybe Meyler time to get stuck in.
